**What you'll do:**
You'll play an important part in helping our labs deliver accurate, high‑quality test results that support major construction and infrastructure projects across Australia. Expect variety, hands‑on work, and plenty of learning. Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out routine field and lab testing on soil, aggregate, rock, and other materials to meet National Association of Testing Authorities (NATA) standards
Working with specialist equipment such as nuclear densometers, compaction tools, and more
Setting up, maintaining, and calibrating laboratory equipment
Helping with the receiving, logging, storing, and disposal of samples
Supporting project deadlines and communicating with internal clients along the way
This is a role where you'll develop real technical skills from day one-skills that can lead to senior technician roles, site-based roles, or even engineering pathways.

**The opportunity**
In this role, you will:
+ Identify practical opportunities to improve frequency, coverage, connectivity and customer outcomes of our public transport networks
+ Use data and spatial analysis to identify opportunities and craft compelling service planning recommendations
+ Use your customer travel behaviour knowledge to develop strategies that will encourage public transport use
+ Support integrated transport and land use planning, including projects that connect public transport with growth areas, centres, corridors and places
+ Work closely with transport authorities, local government, clients and community stakeholders to understand needs, test ideas and shape solutions

**About you**
You're an experienced public transport planner who understands that good service planning is about more than routes and timetables. You see the connection between transport networks, land use, places, people and policy, and you're motivated by the opportunity to improve how communities move.
You will bring:
+ Experience in public transport planning, ideally with a focus on bus networks, service planning, integrated transport planning or network strategy
+ Experience in major event service planning or an interest in service planning for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games
+ Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret service data, travel patterns, demand, land use context and customer needs
+ Experience working with government clients, transport authorities or local government stakeholders
+ The ability to turn technical analysis into clear, practical and persuasive advice
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports, presentations and stakeholder materials
+ Confidence working collaboratively across disciplines, including transport planning, traffic, urban planning, infrastructure and advisory teams

+ Supporting hydrological assessments and surface water modelling for civil infrastructure projects.
+ Building, running and interpreting hydrology and hydraulic (TUFLOW) models under the guidance of senior engineers.
+ Using GIS tools to manage, review and present hydrological data and flood modelling outputs.
+ Given opportunities to develop skills and assist with drainage design tasks, including culverts, open channels, pit and pipe systems.
+ Contributing to water quality assessments and modelling, including opportunities to learn tools such as MUSIC.
+ Preparing clear technical inputs, design reports, figures and supporting documentation.
**About You**
+ A degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, or a related water resources discipline.
+ **1-3 years' experience** in flood modelling, hydrology, or drainage design.
+ A strong interest in hydrology and hydraulic modelling, particularly TUFLOW hydraulic modelling for infrastructure and development projects.
+ Exposure to ARR, QUDM, Austroads or TMR guidance would be helpful, but a willingness to learn is just as important.
+ Experience with QGIS and an interest in developing your mapping and data presentation skills.
+ Exposure to drainage design software such as 12D, DRAINS or MUSIC would be beneficial, but not essential.
+ A positive, team-first attitude with curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to learn from experienced engineers.
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to contribute to high-quality reports and project deliverables.

WSP's SA/NT Mining team is seeking an experienced Drafting & Design Team Lead to lead and develop our drafting capability across mining, industrial, sustaining capital and brownfields projects.
This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys developing people, improving delivery processes and supporting project teams to achieve high-quality outcomes. You may currently be a Drafting Manager, Lead Designer, Drafting Coordinator or Senior Designer looking to take the next step in your career.
**What you'll do:**
Reporting to the Engineering Manager - SA/NT Mining, you will lead a distributed drafting and design team across Australia and WSP's Global Delivery Centre in India.
Working closely with Project Managers, Engineers and Discipline Leads, you will provide leadership across resource planning, team development, drafting standards and project delivery. This role combines people leadership with operational involvement, ensuring projects are supported by a high-performing and well-coordinated drafting function.
The team delivers studies and sustaining capital projects for major mining clients including BHP and other leading resource companies. Your day to day will include;
+ Lead, mentor and develop drafting and design personnel across local, interstate and global delivery teams.
+ Manage resource planning, utilisation and workload across multiple projects.
+ Support Project Managers and Discipline Leads to align drafting resources with project requirements.
+ Drive consistency, quality and best practice across drafting and design deliverables.
+ Develop and maintain drafting standards, quality processes and digital delivery workflows.
+ Strengthen collaboration between drafting and engineering teams across multiple disciplines.
+ Support capability development, succession planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Promote a strong culture of safety, quality and delivery excellence.
**About you:**
You may already be leading a drafting team, or you may be an experienced designer who has naturally stepped into leadership responsibilities through mentoring others, coordinating workloads, improving systems and supporting project delivery. You will bring strong technical credibility, excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for developing people and enabling teams to succeed. Ideally, we are also looking for the below background;
Essential Experience
+ Experience in drafting and design within mining, resources, industrial or heavy industry environments.
+ Leadership experience, either in a formal role or through coordinating and mentoring teams.
+ Strong understanding of engineering project delivery and multidisciplinary design environments.
+ Experience planning resources and supporting multiple concurrent projects.
+ Strong communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
Preferred Experience
+ Mechanical or Piping drafting and design background.
+ Experience with Bentley MicroStation, AutoCAD, Plant 3D, OpenPlant, ProjectWise, Navisworks, Aconex or similar platforms.
+ Experience with Tier 1 mining clients and multidisciplinary consulting project environments.
+ Experience working with offshore or global delivery teams.
+ Brownfields sustaining capital or operational site project experience.

Our PAM team is a committed group of professionals with skills covering transport planning; traffic engineering and transport modelling. With a long pipeline of work, this role provides the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting transport projects in the region, from Activity Centres and integrated transport strategies, to public transport, pedestrians and cycling.
**Our ideal candidate will bring:**
+ Bachelor or Masters in Planning, Geography, Engineering or other relevant degree
+ Experience working with WA Local and State government clients, especially in multi-modal, public transport and active transport projects
+ Experience conducting spatial analysis and creating maps in QGIS or ArcGIS, and using data to provide an evidence base for planning
+ Experience in preparing and delivering stakeholder workshops
+ Strong technical report writing and preparation of transport planning graphics in Adobe Illustrator or similar
