Barings seeks a highly detail-oriented and motivated individual to enhance the finance team as an Assistant Accountant working across corporate and funds. The candidate will be responsible for financial procedures around Accounts Payable, Accounts receivable, Banking, Settlements, custody procedures and cash management. The role sits within the Barings Real Estate Australia Finance Team.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management

  • Prepare and process Corporate and Funds payments, including invoices, distributions, BAS, and interest payments within deadlines.
  • Handle fund transfers, AP/AR transactions, and GL Journal preparation.
  • Ensure accuracy in billing, tax invoices, and monthly financial reporting/month end.
  • Manage accounts inbox, resolve supplier queries, and prepare cost analysis reports.
  • Perform account reconciliations, journal processing, and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • Raise and process sundry invoices, actively manage outstanding debtors, and review aged debtor reports.
  • Liaise with Custodian for payment instructions, assist in bank account management, and monitor cash balances.
  • Prepare cash balance reports for cash flow forecasting and align cash strategies with organisational objectives.
  • Assist in cost analysis reports, identify process improvement opportunities, and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Comply with Barings’ policies, contribute to process improvement initiatives, and support resolving payment queries.
  • Attend meetings and assist with custody-related instructions.
  • Handle ad-hoc requests and maintain an accounting policy and procedures manual.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance (Major in Accounting).
  • Studying or working towards CA/CPA Qualification (Desirable).
  • 4+ years of accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in MYOB, MRI, and intermediate-advanced MS Excel skills.
  • Team player with funds management or property industry experience.
