Your Primary Goal

As a Bilingual Family Lawyer at the leading multicultural law firm in Australia, your primary goal is to assist clients in legal matters related to family law. Job Responsibilities

• Legal Advice: Provide comprehensive legal advice to clients on various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, spousal support, and property division, with a strong focus on addressing the specific needs of clients.

• Case Management: Manage a caseload of family law matters, from initiation to resolution, ensuring clients' interests are protected and their unique cultural considerations are taken into account.

• Court Representation: Represent clients in family court proceedings, mediation sessions, and negotiations, advocating effectively for their rights and interests, while bridging language and cultural gaps.

• Legal Document Preparation: Draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and settlement agreements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements, and providing bilingual versions when necessary.

• Due Diligence: Conduct and oversee due diligence processes, such as reviewing relevant financial documents, medical records, and other pertinent information to ensure there are no legal issues that could impact the outcome of family law cases.

• Client Relations : Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates on case developments, addressing their concerns, and ensuring clear and effective communication in both English and Chinese Cantonese.

• Legal Research: Stay current with changes in family law regulations and precedents, conducting legal research to support case strategies that are sensitive to the needs of bilingual clients.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law from an accredited institution.
• Admitted to practice law in Queensland and a member in good standing with the Queensland Law Society.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing family lawyer, specializing in family law matters.
• Proficiency in both English and Chinese Cantonese languages, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong understanding of Australian family law regulations and procedures.
• Excellent negotiation and advocacy skills, with the ability to navigate cultural nuances.
• Demonstrated ability to manage a caseload effectively, with great attention to detail.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds, especially Chinese Cantonese-speaking clients.
