About the role

Ansvar Australia , who are proudly part of Benefact Group , are looking for a Chief Risk Officer to join our Melbourne  office.

We are looking for someone who will provide strategic leadership to our risk and compliance function. You will lead a small team to embed and deliver our risk strategy. In this hand’s-on role, you will report into a supportive CEO, and proactively promote a culture that embeds risk management as foundational to how business is conducted across Ansvar.

The Chief Risk Officer is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of, and reporting on, the Risk Management Framework. This includes the systems, processes and people that identify, assess, mitigate and monitor internal and external sources of material risk, including strategic, insurance, operational, finance, compliance, credit, market and liquidity risk.

Key responsibilities
  • Continue to cultivate and refine a resilient and risk-aware culture across Ansvar.
  • Manage the ongoing development of Ansvar’s robust risk management framework enterprise wide through leadership of the risk and compliance function.
  • Facilitate the management of Ansvar’s compliance obligations to meet all legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide guidance and support to business leaders in the development and maintenance of an effective first line of defence for risk and compliance matters.
  • Act as a liaison point and subject matter expert working alongside stakeholders on key risk and compliance initiatives and internal audit related areas.
  • Provide constructive challenge to the design and implementation of critical strategic initiatives and other aspects of the business.
Knowledge, skills and experience
  • Significant relevant risk experience across both financial and non-financial risk areas
  • Relevant technical qualifications
  • Significant experience gained from working in a second line of defence
  • Strong relationship management skills and ability to build trust
  • Strong communication and presentational skills both written and orally
  • Assertive and diplomatic
  • Proven people leader
  • Experience reporting to Board Risk & Compliance and Audit Committees
