Clinical Nurse Consultant (Women's Reproductive Health) - Women's and Children's Services

The Women's and Children's Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse Consultant (Women's Reproductive Health) to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

Your opportunity is to support two specific patient cohorts of the Mackay Base Hospital Outpatients Department (OPD): Termination of Pregnancy (ToP) Services and Gynaecology OPD.

Termination of Pregnancy (ToP) Services

  • Support leadership and management to design and implement a culturally appropriate and safe model of care in the management of termination of pregnancy services.
  • Participate in the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of nurse led clinic providing/co-ordinating TOP services.
  • Triage and Co-ordinate referrals for women seeking medical termination of pregnancy.
  • Refer to and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to support women seeking/utilising termination of pregnancy services.
  • Liaise/collaborate with leadership and management in the development of data reporting metrics to validate service delivery.
  • Complete data collection tools/audits as part of core business, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of data/trends of concern to Service Director of Women's Health.
  • Ensure that all gynaecology services are triaged, actioned, surgery appropriately categorised and booked within acceptable time frames.
  • Provide advanced clinical expertise and care to women accessing gynaecology services in the OPD.
  • Liaise/collaborate with leadership and management in the development of data reporting metrics to validate service delivery.
  • Complete data collection tools/audits as part of core business, ensuring appropriate and timely escalation of data/trends of concern to Service Director of Women's Health.

About the Team

Outpatient Departments provides high volume access to a wide range of specialist services for the Mackay community. The Termination of Pregnancy (ToP)/Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Consultant reports to the Service Director of Women's Health and will in collaboration with multiple disciplinary teams, provide a nurse led clinic to support the provision of ToP services and women requiring gynaecological support/intervention. It is the aim of the Mackay OPD to meet at all times, the needs of our patients, referring practitioners and the community, whilst simultaneously maintaining the highest possible ethical and clinical standards.
