Combat System Maintainer – Subject Matter Expert/TrainerThe role
As part of our Naval
Combat Systems group, the Combat System Maintainer - Subject Matter
Expert/Trainer will be responsible for achieving common Combat System
solutions through the application of a coordinated Systems Engineering
effort.
The CSEG’s core objectives are to deliver efficiently by:
- Seeking engineering synergies typically based upon common capabilities or equipment between platforms.
- Developing organisational capabilities and capacity in key competencies.
- Utilising common personnel for the conduct of systems engineering effort.
Within Combat Systems Engineering Group a number of functional teams exist to support the development of 9LV based Combat System solutions. The composition of these teams includes Subject Matter Experts (SME) with operational experience that provides an experience-based input into the overall Combat System Engineering effort.
Further, the successful candidate will:
- Provide naval engineering/maintenance input and advice in relation to routine and corrective maintenance procedures, of naval systems in particular Combat Management Systems (CMS).
- Support engineering staff in the maintainability design of CMS functionality and the associated Human-Machine Interface.
- Support engineering staff in the functional design and layout of a Naval Ships’ Command & Control spaces with a focus on Human Factors.
- Undertake Maintenance Task Analysis to support the development of Maintenance Manuals.
- Undertake Training Needs Analysis to support CSM training.
- Defence standard and practice.
- Deliver CS Maintainer training.
Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role.
About you
- Your skills and experience will include:
- Considerable experience as a Combat System Maintainer/Supervisor/Manager in the RAN.
- Proven writing skills with the ability to write in plain English.
- Experience with writing and editing large and/or complex documents to an advanced level in Microsoft Word, or similar, to develop and maintain documentation.
- Considerable technical experience with the 9LV CMS.
- Proven ability in internal and external stakeholder management, including with the customer (CASG, WAMA, NESC and RAN).
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants will be required to hold an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV2 level or have the ability to gain one.
