EL1 Senior Privacy Lawyer - High Profile Government Agency

Allygroup is seeking up to 6 senior lawyers to support the Legal Services Division at the Senior Government Lawyer level (EL1). 

This is an exciting opportunity to gain invaluable experience working collaboratively with technically skilled, like-minded people supporting multi-disciplinary teams.

The duties will include drafting legal advice and any other work required by a lawyer working in an in-house government environment. The seconded lawyer will work proactively and independently (seeking guidance when required) and will collaboratively with clients to understand and anticipate their needs.

Part-time/flexible working arrangements may be considered for the right candidate. This is a contract secondment opportunity.

Digital Delivery and Privacy Legal (DDPL) Branch 
The DDPL branch requires approximately 6 senior lawyers with expertise in general automation, public law and administrative law, statutory interpretation, information law, and privacy/secrecy related issues. Located in Canberra or Sydney.  The branch provides legal advice on:

  • Automation and Artificial intelligence – legal advice on the use of automation in government decision making and application of artificial intelligence technologies.
  • Health Programs – legal support to the Health Delivery Modernisation Program, MyMedicate and Birth of Child Projects.
  • Emergency Management – legal advice on natural disaster assistance and other disaster assistance.
  • Privacy Advising – provides privacy assurance advice (PTAs, PAAs, PIAs) and privacy and secrecy advice on information release.
  • Data Governance – legal advice on information and data exchanges, third party data access arrangements, data matching and Archives Act 1983 obligations.
  • MyGov and Digital Identity – legal support to support these programs.
