How will I help?

The Executive Manager of Digital, Marketing & Customer Engagement in Data Platforms will serve several critical internal clients, including the respective business units across Westpac's Consumer Banking Division. Your team of approximately 100 colleagues sits within the Data Platforms DCEW (Digital, Customer Engagement and Westpac Institutional Banking) division which comprises four delivery departments: WIB and Treasury, Digital and Marketing, Customer, Special Business Division.

As a data leader, you will play a crucial role designing, building, and implementing data solutions for the department that works to protect the customers and community we serve. You will be as adept at listening to and partnering with internal stakeholders as you are skillful at devising and implementing creative data delivery solutions. #LI-Hybrid

Your key responsibilities may include:

  • Lead and/or contribute to the various department's data execution and roadmaps that align to the Westpac Group's Data Strategy and architectural standards.
  • Challenge how things are done with an ambition to reduce complexity. Sponsor principles such as design simplicity to ensure the Group keeps pace with best-practice cost, quality, and service standards.
  • Understand and utilise the full functional capability of Data Platforms applications and work with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) teams and business teams to deliver customer-focused business solutions.
  • Establish an effective governance framework including regular reporting and proactive client communication to ensure progress is monitored, trends highlighted, and risks identified.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance data architecture, data warehousing, and data integration capabilities.
  • Improve the delivery cadence with Persistent Teams and Agile Delivery against Standard Service Catalogues.
  • Build and lead a high-performing data team, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities.
  • Forecast, monitor, control and manage the resources required to develop and maintain data services for various business units, including managing capital and operating expense budgets.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role, you will need excellent and verbal communication skills, strong stakeholder management experience and be self-driven. In addition to this, your skills will include:
  • Relevant genuine multi-year experience leading data teams & projects in the Digital and/or Marketing and Customer Engagement data domains
  • Demonstrated experience leading large Agile teams, including external partners, that execute end-to-end programs and support mission-critical activities.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern data and integration technologies, data warehousing and cloud computing.
  • Senior and successful client stakeholder management (General Manager level).
  • Client centricity; demonstrated understanding of the inter-relationship between IT and the business client.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering programs on time, increasing efficiency and cost effectiveness through IT process improvements.
