The Opportunity
The Head of Product/Category Lead- TV/AV manages the dedicated Product Management team and is responsible for category P&L management through correct product planning, pricing, demand forecasting, careful market modelling and sales expense planning.
Additionally, through careful collaborative planning, the Head of Product/Category Lead is also accountable for promotional execution (both cooperative and national marketing), product launch management (GTM) and channel distribution management.
The Head of Product will also manage close communication with key stakeholders across business divisions and HQ/RHQ.
Role and Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
Responsible for the design and implementation of the TV and Sound Device product strategy for the Australian market, and represent Samsung Australia in the global development division to ensure product roadmaps match local market requirements.
Clearly define pricing and step-up strategy across TV and Sound Device range.
Establish strategic marketing plans to achieve, develop and execute marketing programmes to achieve stated objectives regarding revenue, profitability, market share and corporate objectives for product category.
Work closely with the Director, Audio Visual to develop the vision and strategy for the category group and ensure effective communication through the product management team of the overall category vision, strategy, and tactics.
Pricing, Promotions, Forecasting
Develop with marketing lead optimal integration in pricing and marketing activities and manage marketing funds ensuring optimum utilization and financial control. Manages price roadmap and sales deduction planning for category based on P&L status and target.
Manage demand planning to optimal forecast for the Australian market and underpinned by strong analytical modelling and collaborative planning
Oversee all tactical promotional planning within determined sales deduction budgets
Deliver sales presentations to key clients in co-ordination with National Account Managers
Continuously drive and improve the Product management team processes and performance with initiation and coordination of optimizing Supply chain management, planning and go to market.
Sales/Marketing Collaboration and Reporting
Assist the sales team with customer meetings with product strategy, market outlook and trends, activity roadmap and account target setting and forecasting.
Manage development, production and distribution of promotional and collateral materials to support sales and marketing programmes.
Review analysis of marketing surveys on current and new product concepts in order to recommend future product development.
Provide weekly updates on sales status and expectation, analysing shortfall and oversales causes. Actively drives and proposes activities to correct expectation vs target.
Creates weekly report for the Senior Management team with market updates, activity overview and the status of marketing activities.
Communicate closely with HQ Global Business Managers to ensure effective HQ support and align objectives and business targets.
Skills and Qualifications
10+ years of relevant Product Marketing/Management experience
Well-developed leadership experience (prior experience leading and coaching a team of direct reports)
Proven ability to achieve budgeted targets and revenue targets
Previous experience in building and maintaining customer satisfaction through the development of broad customer relationships, including senior management contact
High level of business acumen with a strong ability to effectively communicate, negotiate, influence and present to all levels of the business, including Senior Leadership
Commercial acumen and ability to accurately forecast and manage P&L with strong attention to detail
Consultative and influential selling style with an ability to sell technical products
Agile and proactive with great energy and initiatives
Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills
Intermediate / advanced PC skills using MS Office application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Knowledge or experience of SAP system will be highly regarded
