Junior Sommelier | Bar Messenger

THE OPPORTUNITY 

Mulpha Hospitality are currently recruiting for a Junior Sommelier for Sydney’s newest wine bar, Bar Messenger .

Minutes from the Opera house and Botanic Garden and tucked away in the heritage listed Transport House, Bar Messenger provides a top tier wine list from some of Australia’s best wineries and wine regions, and a small, curated food menu.

We are currently seeking a talented Wine Professional with a passion for wine, food and customer service to work hand-in-hand with our Venue Manager to create one Sydney’s best small bar offering.

You will have access to an extensive catalogue of some of Australia’s best wines and wine regions; be involved in training and conducting wine tasting and have direct access to Mulpha’s Hunter Valley wineries and wine makers.

This role you will work closely with our sister venue Pont Brasserie and is a great opportunity to learn and develop some great skills and connections and guaranteed continued growth in your hospitality career!

Salary Guide: 65-68k plus super.

Working closely with the Venue Manager, the Junior Somm will:

• Present and describe wine options to guests and provide a top tier guest experience
• Conduct staff training on wine knowledge, service techniques, and proper handling of wines and beverages
• Ensure beverage service quality is at its highest and meets set standards
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness within the venue at all times
• Assist the with closing and opening procedures as needed

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A passion for food wine & ability to work independently 
• A high standard of personal presentation and ability to engage and communicate with your teams and our guests effectively
• A team player attitude & love of Hospitality
• Enthusiasm, commitment, and seeking the opportunity to learn and develop professionally
• WEST or equivalent experience highly desirable
