About
the role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a radiology
trainee at St. Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. The successful applicant
will be appointed as a trainee with the Royal Australian and New
Zealand College of Radiologists ("RANZCR"), within the LAN3 network.
The successful applicant will gain valuable experience at St.
Vincent’s Hospital working under the close supervision and guidance of
expert senior radiologists.
The LAN 3 network comprises of Liverpool Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, St George Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital.
We offer development opportunities for our trainees and a caring environment for the delivery of high quality patient centered care. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to be able to:
- Participate in reporting of all diagnostic and interventional procedures undertaken in a timely manner under the supervision of the consultant Radiologists of the day.
- Provide consultation for patients referred to the department for radiological procedures.
- Design appropriate examination(s) for patients, considering the clinical information under supervision of the consultant radiologists.
- Gradually develop expertise in medical and imaging practice, whilst working in a complex tertiary level clinical environment.

About you:
We are seeking a
skilled and energetic trainee who possesses a passion for person
centred care and the cutting edge discipline of radiology. Trainees
will observe and participate in all diagnostic and interventional
radiological examinations, across a wide range of modalities including
CT, MRI, Ultrasound, plain film and angiography. The radiology trainee
play a vital role within the Department of Medical Imaging and St
Vincent’s Hospital.
Post part 1 and 2 applicants are also welcome to apply, with subspecialty training available in Neuroradiology, musculoskeletal and body radiology under supervision of subspecialty consultants with emphasis on high end MR reporting. There is provision for trainees to regularly attend Clinical Meetings and MDTs in addition to fortnightly protected academic time and regular didactic teaching.

Selection
Criteria:
1. MBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of Australia with minimum of two years postgraduate experience at start of training (i.e. PGY 3 or above), with recent clinical practice – including emergency medical care, after hours rostered duties and procedural work.
2. Demonstrated interest in radiology and preparation for radiology training (including Part 1 RANZCR exams and other curriculum requirements).
3. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a complex health care setting with proven time management and problem solving skills.
4. Demonstrated ability to work well within a team environment, collaborating well with multiple stakeholders.
5. Excellent written, verbal and multimedia communication skills, in order to interact effectively with patients, referrers, colleagues and other team members.
6. Excellent academic record commensurate with experience, evidence of on-going learning, teaching activities potential involvement with projects and research publications.
7. Understanding quality improvement principles, commitment to CME, audit, implementation of practice improvement initiatives.
8. Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia.
