superannuation.

Programs
Are you passionate about the needs of people aged 12-25? Are you interested in advocating and elevating the voices of younger people? Working within the Social and Community Planning team this role leads Youth programming at Baw Baw Shire Council. The role involves developing strong relationships with younger people, our community and external partners to achieve the priorities of younger people through local programs and projects. It is an exciting role, with a connection to a range of activities and youth-led initiatives.

About the Role
Working within the Social and Community Planning team this role
will be responsible for:
• Reviewing, implementing and monitoring
Council’s Youth Strategy (Future in Focus 2024-2028) to guide
Council’s works as it relates to young people and Council’s broader
objectives for families and children through a partnership with young
people and relevant agencies.
• Determining the changing and new
needs of young people. Identify opportunities and develop processes to
work collaboratively with local agencies to provide a responsive and
integrated local service system.
• Identifying and analysing
State, Commonwealth and Local Government and non-government policies
that relate to young people and formulate policy advice and directions
for Council.
• Providing specialist advice and knowledge to
council staff on issues related to young people land the local,
regional and state-wide service sectors.
• Developing and
coordinating the Youth Voices program or similar Council led
initiatives, to provide Younger People with a connection to Council,
leadership development and the opportunity to inform Council’s Youth
programming.
• Securing external funding to achieve Council’s
priorities for young people including applying for grants, meeting
grant requirements and completing acquittals.
• Developing and
coordinating the FreeZa Committee to develop appropriate skills to
facilitate events and activities that meet the funding obligations.
• Advocating for the needs of young people in Baw Baw Shire.

Facilitating other funded programs related to Youth as required.

Providing young people the opportunity to participate in a wide range
of activities and programs which align with Council’s strategic plans
including the Council Plan and Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing
Plan.
• Ensuring that young people in the municipality become more
familiar with all available youth services.
About the Successful Candidate
The successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification as detailed in the position description or relevant work skills and experience in the field. They will also have skills in developing good relationships and working within a team. They will have the ability to work closely with communities to facilitate positive results. Experience in Local Government, Youth Work or Community Development would be advantageous.
