Amazon Security is looking for a Security Engineer to join the SOC team in Sydney, Australia.
This position supports AWS Security Engineers and Technical Program Managers with security operations and incident response activities. You will be responsible for coordinating and facilitating security response activities for a wide range of AWS products and services. You will drive "Tier 1" and "Tier 2" related issues to resolution across numerous service teams.
Key job responsibilities
You will need a combination of troubleshooting, technical, security incident response, and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle an assortment of disparate tasks which may include small-project and software development work. This role will provide career growth opportunities as you gain new security skills in the course of your duties.
A day in the life
Primarily you will focus on incident response duties related to live security issues. You will also invent and simplify by automating response and reporting activities, fine tuning processes, and collaborate on complex programs with global teams. You will participate in day-time on-call activities rotated between your peers to keep our customers secure 365 days a year.

Basic Qualifications
- BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or 3+ years' equivalent technology experience.
- Minimum of 2 years or more of demonstrated experience with a focus in areas such as systems, network, and/or application security.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience on a Security Operations team, especially experience coordinating responses to security incidents.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years' equivalent information security experience.
- 3+ years' experience with internet security issues, cloud architectures, and threat landscape.

+ Building secure and resilient communication systems, including encryption, network management, and cyber defense features, to protect sensitive data and ensure uninterrupted connectivity in contested environments.

**Responsibilities**
+ Ensure technology and personal compliance with company Trust Commitments
+ Ensure that all business activities are conducted in line with company values and policies.
+ With support from Architects and Solutions Engineers - contributes to the design and development of "plugins" for the platform that are used for integrating with external systems.
+ Involved with all aspects of software development, working to create and maintain the most reliable, secure and performant service for our customers.
+ Contributes to initiatives for improvements in processes and deliverables that increase the effectiveness and efficiency of the team in responding to customer and business needs.
+ Identify common approaches and patterns for consolidation to promote reuse and best practices.
+ Maintenance of the CI/CD process for build, test and publish of "plugins".
+ Maintenance of technical debt, vulnerabilities and other Cybersecurity and Trust improvements in the "plugins" and related software.
+ Ensure software development lifecycle processes are followed.
+ Support internal and external customers in relation to the components developed.
+ Contribute towards the evolution of the Plugin Development Kit.
+ Provide technical guidance and constructive feedback to leadership, team members and other stakeholders.
**Minimum Qualifications**
+ BS or MS in computer science, related technology field, or equivalent experience
+ You have 5 years of hands-on experience with development and maintenance of applications and unit tests to a high quality.
+ Unit testing, end-to-end testing, and test-driven development experience
+ Experience with JavaScript in Node.js and Groovy.
+ In depth understanding of the entire software development lifecycle
+ Familiarity with DevOps and DevSecOps
+ Experience using REST APIs and other integration capabilities, such as GraphQL and MQTT.
+ Experience with GIT or equivalent version control system
+ Experience developing and maintaining a CI/CD pipeline using Jenkins.
+ Experience using AI supported development tools.
+ Detail oriented approach to building secure, stable, software
+ Experience with Agile development practices such as Scrum or Kanban
+ Experience developing in containerised environments (such as docker)
+ Experience with associated tools such as Postman, IDEs (e.g. Visual Studio Code)
+ Experience with integration-Platform-as-a-Service (iPaaS) offerings and common integration patterns.
+ Experience using Linux and an understanding of networking concepts
+ Experience in working in large corporate environments as well as in smaller startups (we run within the Incubation team).
+ Strong written and oral communication skills in English
+ Ability to operate effectively and independently in a dynamic, fluid environment
+ Experience developing integrations with:
+ Autodesk products such as Tandem, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Fusion Manage.
+ IBM Maximo and other Enterprise Asset Management systems
+ Systems for the Built environment - such as Modbus, BACNet, OPC-UA.
