Our Finance team works closely with Tech, Product & Program Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of labor planning, pricing, routing and expansion opportunities which help improve safety, customer quality and reduce costs.
With a rapidly expanding international team and scope, we are looking for a Financial Analyst Intern who is a creative problem solver to support our growth while gaining Finance experience in a tech-driven organization. This role will work closely with APAC Flex business team and cross-functional business leaders across the Last Mile org. Be part of the journey in this exciting space and help make history!
This role partners closely with a broad range of global finance and business leaders in Flex Operations, Flex Tech, Amazon Logistics (AMZL), and Global Specialty Fulfillment (GSF). This role works with business operators, technical product managers, legal teams and software developers. This role designs and develops performance measurements and quantifies impact to the business based on strategic input drivers to grow and continuously improve the economics of the business.
The successful candidate has demonstrated the following abilities: they influence business owners, support thoughtful decision-making, deal with ambiguity and adapt to a rapidly-evolving environment. They collaborate with executives and various business units across Amazon. You bring excellent verbal and written communication skills. A typical day in this role provides an opportunity to innovate by building creative solutions with large-scale data mining tools, identifying the high-priority work and projects that maximize results for key stakeholders, and solving complex problems that effect company-wide strategic decisions.
Key job responsibilities
* Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, and drive improvements.
* Identify, resolve, or provide guidance to manage complex data sets and analyses. You will bring in insights to address financial risk and support frugality.
* Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjust style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly. Your communications drive critical business decisions.
* Collects and analyzes quantitative data to develop relevant reports that drive cost reductions.
* Work with data source providers and technology teams to ensure that key decision data is accurate, automated and timely.
* Assist in the development of all forecasting and reporting models and their continuous innovation and improving the use and ease of interpretation by your business partners.
Basic Qualifications
* BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science).
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
* Experience in leveraging AI tools.
* Analytical, detail-oriented and keen business acumen; proven ability to manage new ideas and creative solutions and demonstrated experience managing such mechanisms to an end result.
* Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize workload and achieve effective results in a fast-paced, dynamic, ever-growing and often ambiguous environment.

**About the role:**
As a Senior Finance Analyst supporting our Operations team, you'll play a key role in driving performance and cost control through strategic financial analysis and business partnering, particularly with logistics. This role involves budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, and deep-dive analytics to uncover opportunities for efficiency and cost optimisation. You'll work closely with the Operations Leadership Team and contribute to sustainable reporting and continuous improvement initiatives that provide visibility, draw insights that drive and influence change.

**About you:**
You are a confident finance professional with 5 years experience and a strong analytical mindset. You enjoy analysing data and trends for the purpose of planning, forecasting, advising, budgeting, reporting or sales opportunities and thrive in a fast-paced environment where you're juggling multiple different priorities at once. You are a natural people person and excel in building collaborative partnerships with your stakeholders to bring ideas together and drive best practices.
**Key responsibilities:**
+ Effective Finance business partnering, building close relationship to Divisional Operations Leaders and local Finance teams to add value and insight;
+ Financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and P&L control, analysis and insight;
+ Adhoc analysis to support decision making and provide insights
+ Analyse the impact (financial and non-financial) of actions taken within the Operation Divisions, communicating results to the Commercial Manager;
+ Help to drive collaboration efforts between Sales, Finance and Operations, facilitating improved communication and collaboration, driving cost saving initiatives; and
+ Support the wider SSP business through knowledge sharing and financial acumen communication.
**Must have experience/skills:**
+ Bachelor's degree in finance related topic and CPA or CA qualified;
+ 5 years' experience in a similar role, ideally within the healthcare or medical devices industry;
+ Experience in business partnering and influencing across all level of stakeholder to impact change and make things happen;
+ Pricing experience, including reviewing, analysing and providing pricing recommendation to drive margin improvement;
+ Advanced analytic capability with experience working with large data sets, drawing meaningful insights and translating those to actions;
+ A high attention to detail and the ability to transform data findings into recommendations and present them back (via different formats) to all level of stakeholder including executives; and
+ A curious, proactive and continuous improvement mindset and the ability to juggle multiple priorities at once.
**Nice to have experience/skills:**

As a member the Promontory Australia team at IBM you will contribute to the firm's efforts in working with clients on challenging strategic, risk management, and regulatory compliance issues.
Our team of specialists offers the following services across Prudential, Conduct and AML Regulation:
· Risk Management - Providing advisory and assurance services regarding organisational transformation across risk management, governance, culture, accountability and compliance.
· Remediation Services - Assurance to regulators and firms over customer focused remediation programs.
· Regulatory Framework - Advising regulators and industry associations on building regulatory frameworks.
· Regulatory Liaison - Helping our clients navigate relationships with regulators.
· RegTech - Working with IBM teams and leveraging their technology assets in advising clients on AI based solutions and associated risk governance.
We have a diverse client base in Australia, which includes some of Australia's largest financial institutions and clients drawn from the public sector.
As a Analyst Consultant, you will be responsible for managing risk, regulatory and compliance engagements on a day-to-day basis, analysing complex problems, developing recommendations to address client issues and heavily involved in reports and other deliverables. A strong consulting background with experience in non-financial risk management (including operational risk and resilience) and or superannuation is preferable. You will also be expected to draw upon your insights and networks to identify business opportunities for IBM Promontory to pursue.
**Your role and responsibilities**
To be successful in this role a candidate must have the stature to engage effectively with clients and potential clients at all levels. The candidate will also need to inspire and work effectively with team members drawn from a range of technical disciplines. Interact comfortably with executive management across industry and regulatory authorities. Key responsibilities will include:
* Manage projects and act as client point of contact on a day-to-day basis contributing to engagements being delivered to budget and meeting profit and realisation targets.
* Undertake analysis as directed and take responsibility for the preparation of project deliverables, including reports and presentations.
* Interact comfortably with executive management of and regulatory authorities, generally with a Director or Senior Principal present.
* Strong analytical skills, oral skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, simply and logically.
* Strong written communication skills with, the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations.
* Ability to handle complex information, solve problems, and manage multiple tasks.
* Ability to work closely with, and communicate effectively with, clients and within all levels of the organisation.
· Strong commitment to integrity and ethics.
The candidate will also be required to build and retain relationships across the industry and to identify opportunities for further work. This includes the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and contribute to teams that are motivated to succeed.
**Required technical and professional expertise**
· An undergraduate degree in either Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or Law - with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
· Experience in Financial services, Consulting, Regulator, Compliance, Risk management, Governance or legal.
· Track record working in a fast-paced and unstructured environment with aptitude for identifying and developing innovative solutions to client challenges.
· Analytics and data: Proven track record of successfully delivering highly analytical and data intensive work. Strong understanding of data governance and experience in working with large and unstructured datasets to draw meaningful and actionable insights and outcomes.
· AI: A strong understanding of AI fundamentals, including AI governance, and model development and application.
· Expert level capabilities in Excel (incl. advanced excel functionality and VBA / Macro development). Expert level capabilities in working with large datasets in SQL.
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
· Tertiary qualifications in Commerce, Finance, Law or Business Administration with postgraduate qualifications highly regarded.
· Specialising in data analytics, risk management, assurance, and regulatory compliance.
· Experience developing, testing and validating the end-to-end modelling process and knowledge of a variety of tools including Alteryx, R and Python.
