**About the role**
We are looking to employ a Sports & Leisure Team Leader in a fulltime ongoing position.
As a Sports & Leisure Attendant at InterContinental Hayman Great Barrier Reef, you'll be part of a dynamic team delivering unforgettable experiences through a range of land-based and non-motorised water activities. From setting up beachfront operations each day to leading guided nature walks, kayak tours, and snorkel lessons, your role is all about creating safe, engaging, and memorable moments for our guests. You'll combine your passion for the outdoors with a high regard for safety and service, ensuring all activities are conducted professionally and in line with resort standards.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
· Take and manage bookings, up-selling opportunities and helping to improve guest's stay.
· Reporting on the daily operation of guest activities and guest feedback.
· Instructing guests on the safe and proper use of equipment such as sea kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
· Ensuring equipment is mechanically sound, and staff is up to date and relevant training completed. Report any equipment maintenance or repair requirements to the Assistant Manager
· Providing accurate and engaging information about the island's natural environment, including local flora and fauna.
· Ensuring all recreation equipment and facilities, including the Recreation Centre, are clean, well-presented, and free from defects.
· Assisting with tour check-ins, including completion of waivers, safety briefings, and issuing invoices.
· Actively promoting and cross-selling resort activities to enhance guest experiences.
· Following all emergency, safety, and navigation protocols in line with Marine Board of Queensland and NSCV guidelines.
**About you**
You are a confident and energetic individual with a passion for outdoor activities and guest engagement. You prioritise safety and wellbeing in every interaction and may need to obtain appropriate CPR and First Aid certificates. Your knowledge with non-motorised water sports vehicles and land-based leisure activities equips you to guide and instruct guests with professionalism and enthusiasm, ensuring every moment is both enjoyable and safe. Friendly, approachable, and adaptable, you thrive in an active environment where your knowledge and positive attitude help create memorable island adventures.
**Intended commencement date for this position would be the 29 September 2025, with the role being permanent and located on Hayman Island, Queensland.**
**Appropriate Australian working rights are required for this role.**
· The base hourly rate for this position is $28.20 under the Hayman Island Enterprise Agreement, working a minimum of 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster with shifts spanning from early in the morning until later at night.
