Caterpillar Australia has a fantastic opportunity for a collaborative and resourceful engineer to join the Hard Rock (underground) Vehicles product group as a Design Engineer (Project Engineering) based in Burnie, Tasmania design centre conveniently co-located with our proving ground and workshops.
In this project engineering role, you will manage multiple design projects end-to-end solving customer problems and leveraging the skills and expertise of our global teams. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to network widely within the enterprise, acquire product application knowledge and develop new skills from exposure to the product value stream.
Working as part of a welcoming and close-knit team, your own diversity of skills and experience will be essential as together we solve challenging and varied problems. This position is being offered as a permanent full-time position. Travel is not a requirement of the role but could be available to meet project needs.

You will focus on the construction, recapitalization, and planning of electrical systems as well as other types of projects.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
+ Act as the liaison, reporting to and coordinating with U.S. government representatives at multiple levels.
+ Oversee the Site O&M support contractor or A/E during project execution to ensure that customer requirements are accomplished on time, to the specified quality and within budget.
+ Coordinate with the facilities O&M support contractor for resource allocation and document control.
+ Ensuring that the government receives valid cost proposals.
+ Developing and reporting metrics to support the paradigm of continuous improvement.

As a proud industry leader in Defence mission support, Raytheon Australia is responsible for providing mission critical systems operations, engineering, maintenance and base support services for the Harold E. Holt Defence Precinct, located near Exmouth, Western Australia. This includes services for the maintenance and operation of critical defence infrastructure including the Space Surveillance Telescope, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Transmitter and C-Band Radar.
To support our mission, Raytheon is currently seeking a motivated mechanical engineer who is ready to join a talented team of engineering professionals on-site in Exmouth. If you are ready for the next step in your career and wanting a potential sea change, then this role is for you.
Reporting to the VLF Engineering Manager, the mechanical engineer will assist the Raytheon Australia engineering team with issues associated with the VLF facility and interfaces to the VLF mission systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise
+ Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
+ Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.
+ Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.
+ Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
+ Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.
+ Participate in technical reviews and audits.

In conjunction with our technical and engineering team, your mission will be to
**Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Hold safety as a core value and contribute to the achievement of a zero harm and incident/injury free environment through active participation in all safety programs relevant to the position
+ Perform the duties of a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer as part of a CASA CAR30 Maintenance Organisation delivering services within the CASA Aerial Work Category.
+ Ensure all aircraft maintenance, documentation and certification is carried out and completed in line with the Raytheon Australia System of Maintenance and Engineering Procedures Manuals.
+ Perform, implement and maintain any required shift / task handovers
+ Supervise maintenance personnel and support apprentices when required
+ Responsible for the general condition, upkeep of the hangar and workshop
+ Point of contact for work related phone calls whilst on duty
+ Deploy with Aircraft to provide maintenance and logistics support both nationally and Internationally
+ Perform any other duties as directed by Raytheon Chief Maintenance Engineer
**Reporting Relationship**
+ The position reports directly to the Raytheon Australia Chief Maintenance Engineer
**Qualification Requirements**
Essential:
+ Experienced LAME B1
+ If not type rated, available to complete the Learjet 35/36 type course. Type course provided by Raytheon if required.
**Desirable:**
+ Hold a current Part 66 B1 license Learjet 35/36 type rating
+ Current First Aid Certificate
+ Forklift license
Successful candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 2 Security Clearance from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA)
