The Power Distribution Systems and Services (PDSS) Engineering team is looking to hire a Project and Design Engineer to support the delivery of customer projects on time and on budget, as well supporting the development and maintenance of the PD product portfolio. This will include reviewing clients' specifications, drawings, and documentation to formulate engineering solutions to meet Eaton's contractual requirements and satisfy the customer as per the contractual agreement.
**Key Duties:**
+ Prepare electrical & mechanical drawings and reports and ensure designs/projects comply with relevant electrical and safety requirements.
+ Collaborate with PMO to gain customer approval/acceptance of all drawings submitted.
+ Creation of standard product BOM & Routing, & purchase requisitions through the ERP system and liaison with product management, procurement, and assembly partners.
+ Process Engineering Change Orders through the ERP system.
+ Issue of parts to assembly partners and coordination of project completion.
+ Establish testing plans (ITP/ITS) and oversee product testing/FATs.
+ Provide guidance as necessary to procurement and assembly partners for the completion of projects.
+ Provide product application support to Marketing, Sales, and Project Management teams and customers.
+ Provide technical support to Operations, QA, and Project Management teams e.g. test result reviews, product failure investigations, work instructions etc.
**Qualifications:**
+ At least 3 years of experience as a project or design engineer preferably in electrical switchgear and installations for Medium or Low Voltage.
+ Experience in a design/manufacturing environment.
+ AutoCAD experience particularly Autodesk Inventor 3D highly regarded.
+ Knowledge of Standards AS/NZS3000, AS2067, AS/NZS62271 suite & IEC62271 suite.
+ EPlan experience - highly regarded.
+ SAP ERP and Microsoft Office Suite.

In this role, you will serve as an interface between the on-site government facilities management organization, design and construction contractors, Site Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support contractor, local utilities and all other customers and stakeholders on matters related to customer requirements, project prioritization and execution. You will be responsible for overseeing the five phases of the project life cycle to include requirements development, programming, design, construction, and closeout. You will focus on the construction, recapitalization, and planning of electrical systems as well as other types of projects.

Working in a friendly team to meet the needs of our customer - the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), your role involves direct engagement with peers, Australian Defence Force personnel, capability partners, sub-contractors and suppliers.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ As the technical interface between the customer, management and the implementation team, conduct systems analysis to derive function, performance and interface requirements to meet electrical safety parameters.
+ Engage with System Design activities (including trade studies) to ensure that the mechanical design artefacts are compatible with the baselined product; consistent across all subsystems, delivering system design to meet performance requirements.
+ Perform technical risk analysis as required in your work as the mechanical engineer to support development and review of hazard logs, safety case arguments and risk mitigation actions.
+ Ensure assigned mechanical components are developed and implemented according to appropriate standards and procedures.
+ Collaborating with internal and external stakeholder; securing Raytheon's reputation as a trusted partner in delivering systems integration and mission support solutions to our customers.
**Skills, Experience and Qualifications**
+ Tertiary Qualification in relevant mechanical/mechatronics/structural engineering discipline; holding as a minimum tertiary qualifications and professional development sufficient to attain recognition as CPEng with Engineers Australia in a relevant engineering stream, including ability to attain RPEQ recognition.
+ Experience in an Engineering discipline including involvement in one or more of the following Engineering practices - Requirements Definition, Management, Analysis, Design and Verification and Validation.
+ Experience in effectively representing Engineering professional services to both internal and external customers.
+ Minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience (when a University Degree is held).
+ Experience with a 3D CAD parametric modelling software.
+ Experience in mechanical component / sub-system selection and procurement. Practical to substantial knowledge of projects, programs, or systems relevant to the business with the ability to make enhancements and leverage knowledge in daily work.
+ Experience in mechanical design and design changes.
+ Experience in product configuration control.
+ Experience in Military Standard electrical component/subsystem selection and procurement.
+ Familiarity with AS1100 Drawing standard.
+ This position may require availability to travel when required.

As a proud industry leader in Defence mission support, Raytheon Australia is responsible for providing mission critical systems operations, engineering, maintenance and base support services for the Harold E. Holt Defence Precinct, located near Exmouth, Western Australia. This includes services for the maintenance and operation of critical defence infrastructure including the Space Surveillance Telescope, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Transmitter and C-Band Radar.
To support our mission, Raytheon is currently seeking a motivated mechanical engineer who is ready to join a talented team of engineering professionals on-site in Exmouth. If you are ready for the next step in your career and wanting a potential sea change, then this role is for you.
Reporting to the VLF Engineering Manager, the mechanical engineer will assist the Raytheon Australia engineering team with issues associated with the VLF facility and interfaces to the VLF mission systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise
+ Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
+ Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.
+ Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.
+ Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
+ Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.
+ Participate in technical reviews and audits.
+ Mentor engineering and technical staff.
**Skills, Experience and Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience.
+ Minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries.
+ Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.
+ Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.
+ Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.
+ Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training.
+ Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance. Eligibility can be found at with ability to satisfy ITAR material access compliance.
**Desirable Experience**
+ Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
+ Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia.
+ Understanding of different power generation technologies and international power standards, such US standards.
