We are seeking expressions of interest for the position of Area Manager . This is a key leadership opportunity for an experienced individual to support and drive service delivery, performance, compliance, and culture across designated service areas within Uniting.
As Area Manager, you will provide operational leadership and management across our residential aged care services, ensuring our values are embedded in daily practice while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement and person-centred care.
Key Responsibilities May Include- Leading, developing and supporting Service Managers to deliver high quality care.
- Managing service performance, occupancy, revenue, and compliance targets.
- Fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Ensuring services operate in line with legislative, funding, and quality standards.
- Partnering with People & Culture, Clinical, Finance and Quality teams to enable service outcomes.
- Leading and supporting change management initiatives and service reviews.
- Contributing to strategic planning and operational improvements across your portfolio.
- Tertiary qualifications in health, human services, aged care, business, or a related field.
- Current valid driver’s licence and ability to travel across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated experience in operational leadership within aged care or a related sector.
- Proven ability to lead multi-site services and manage performance outcomes.
- Strong understanding of aged care legislation, funding, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience managing budgets, occupancy, and workforce strategy.
- Ability to develop high-performing teams and a collaborative, values-led culture.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, changing environment.

You will be based at a remote clinic in the Northern Territory, delivering comprehensive and culturally appropriate primary health care to Aboriginal communities in the Katherine region, serving approximately 3,500 people. Services include primary health care clinics, social and emotional wellbeing programs, health promotion and outreach, child and family health, after-hours emergency care, visiting specialists, and NDIS support.
Your Role:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the health centre, ensuring high-quality delivery of primary health services
- Provide clinical oversight and support to a multidisciplinary team including nurses, Aboriginal Health Practitioners, and visiting clinicians
- Manage, mentor, and support staff professional development; oversee rostering and team wellbeing
- Foster strong relationships with Elders, community leaders, and stakeholders to align services with local needs
- Coordinate health promotion and community wellness programs
- Oversee budgeting, resource management, and facility maintenance
- Ensure compliance with clinical governance, regulatory standards, and reporting obligations
- Promote a culturally safe and supportive environment for staff and clients
- Current AHPRA registration with no restrictions
- Broad experience in primary health care, ideally within remote Aboriginal health settings
- Strong leadership and clinic management skills
- Current manual driver’s license
