We're seeking a dynamic and collaborative **Civil Engineering Team Leader** to lead our high-performing team based in Wide Bay. **About the role**
Ideally you will have consulting engineering experience working within the community development team of engineers, designers and drafters.
You will be at the forefront, engaging with clients, managing project implementations, and conducting technical design reviews. Your strategic vision will position our office for future success and growth.

**Day to day tasks would involve:**
* Lead a team of civil engineers, designers, and drafters to deliver high-quality community development and infrastructure projects across the region.
* Oversee project delivery to ensure technical excellence, compliance with QA systems, and adherence to budget, scope, and timeframes.
* Manage team resourcing and utilisation, supporting project managers and directors with planning, delivery, and performance oversight.
* Support the development and execution of proposals, including clear documentation of scope, fees, and terms of engagement.
* Drive business development activities and build a sustainable project pipeline through strong client relationships and market knowledge.
* Provide coaching and mentoring to develop capability within the team, including oversight of performance reviews, succession planning, and day-to-day people leadership.
* Foster a high-performance culture focused on engagement, accountability, and continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with other business lines across APAC to support integrated project delivery, cross-sector resourcing, and broader business objectives.
* Act as a technical leader, providing advanced engineering advice, reviewing critical project inputs, and resolving complex challenges.
* Ensure client satisfaction through proactive communication, problem-solving, and consistent service delivery.
**What you will bring to the team**
+ Bachelor of Civil Engineering
+ Demonstrated experience in civil engineering, including design and delivery of land development, urban infrastructure, and local government projects.
+ Leadership experience, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
+ Strong commercial acumen and project management skills, including experience in budgeting, resourcing, and meeting performance KPIs.
+ Ability to build trusted relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, with a focus on long-term partnerships.
+ A collaborative mindset and willingness to work across disciplines and offices to deliver integrated solutions.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly articulate complex ideas and technical information.

# Project Overview:
The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.
The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah Riyadh highway.
Bechtel has been awarded the Ar Rjum gold project feasibility study update and related works by Ma'aden, Saudi Arabia's state-owned mining company. The scope will include updating the existing design capacity from 6 Mtpa to 8 Mtpa and preparing for execution, which is anticipated to kick off execution in 2025.
# Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil aspects where you will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil components and processes.
Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
_This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership._
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Plans and conducts independent Civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit for civil works on green field and brown field projects.
+ Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
+ Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
+ Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks.
+ Determines the appropriate use of various civil elements such as earthworks, pavement, rock, concrete, etc. to ensure appropriate material is used based on project requirements.
+ Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
+ Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
+ Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
+ Develops conceptual designs for Civil engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
+ Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
+ Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
+ Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Civil aspects of the work.
+ Conducts or leads special studies of new Civil engineering methods, materials and techniques.
+ Mentors Civil engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience
+ Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
+ Recently supervised team during study and detail design phase of project(s).
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Demonstrated experience as a Civil Engineer, preferably within mining and metals industry
+ Considered highly skilled and proficient in Civil Engineering discipline
+ Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways

# Job Summary:
This role will be involved in the analysis and design of rail mounted machines for the materials handling industry. Bechtel have a number of projects in which this style of machine is a fundamental component of the system. As a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects of rail mounted machines for the materials handling industry.
You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering including the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, building, roadways, railroads, etc.
+ Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates Civil/Structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures
+ Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including statics, dynamics, and materials engineering
+ Specific knowledge of the design, supply and installation processes for rail mounted stockyard machines, and particular knowledge of the application of the standard: AS4324 - MOBILE EQUIPMENT FOR CONTINUOUS HANDLING OF BULK MATERIALS
+ Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements
+ Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions
+ Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions
+ Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements
+ Plans, coordinates, or prepares equipment, work and material specifications, bid evaluations and award recommendations
+ Prepares procurement and subcontract requisition documents and performs associated technical bid evaluations with award recommendations
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Knowledge of DIN ISO and Australian Standards for the design and construction of rail mounted machines for the materials handling mining industry.
+ Experience in the use of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) analytical techniques preferred.
