We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join our expanding Australia and New Zealand team to generate qualified opportunities for our Sales Teams. As part of the Marketing Business Development team, you will be working closely with the regional sales and marketing teams to generate sales accepted leads via multiple channels with a mix of inbound (lead follow-up) and outbound (prospecting) activities.

The Opportunity:
This is a strategic opportunity to shape the growth of KBR's Defence and Federal Government portfolio by leading the early stages of business development across high-value pursuits. As Business Development Manager, you will work closely with the Senior Manager Campaigns and the wider Growth function to drive opportunity identification, qualification, and positioning, aligned with KBR's strategic objectives.
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining deep market intelligence, developing entry strategies, and forming strong relationships with key stakeholders across the Department of Defence and other relevant government agencies. You will lead campaign planning and early shaping efforts, taking ownership of pursuits from initial engagement through to handover to the Capture Manager, while maintaining support through to contract award.
You will also play a visible role in the market, representing KBR across industry bodies, contributing to brand awareness efforts, and helping strengthen our presence and reputation in the Defence sector. Internally, you'll collaborate across the Growth and Marketing Communications teams to ensure alignment on messaging, positioning, and client engagement strategies. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy, client relationships, and business growth
The key responsibilities of the role, but is not limited to:
+ Building and maintaining market intelligence and identifying entry strategies to grow our position in the Department of Defence and other, relevant, Federal Government Departments.
+ Establishing KBR within external networks and working with the KBR ADSS Marketing Communications team to raise the brand awareness of prospective clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
+ Maintaining relationships with existing clients and developing new client contacts, especially in the Department of Defence and other, relevant Federal Government Departments.
+ Leading and managing business pursuits consistent with the KBR Business Development Process, through Stages 1 and 2, from early shaping activities through to handover to a Capture Manager in Stage 3 (Capture Planning).
+ Demonstrating accountability for pursuit outcomes, from identification and qualification, through to handover to a Capture Manager, and supporting the remainder of the capture process until contract signature.
+ Establishing and qualifying a pipeline of opportunities and maintaining reporting using KBR's customer relationship management (CRM) platform (Salesforce).
+ Assisting clients to identify and articulate their requirements and designing outcome focused solutions.
+ Assisting in the development of partnerships, within the guidelines of the KBR ADSS Strategy, and as approved by the executing business unit leadership and the Senior Manager, in support of new business opportunities.
+ Representing KBR on various industry bodies and trade groups.
+ Maintaining close internal working relationships within the Growth function to ensure consistency of message and brand promotion

Essential:
+ Familiarity with Defence and Defence capability development.
+ Proven experience in managing complex projects.
+ Highly evolved communication skills with the ability to effectively influence stakeholders.
+ Tertiary qualifications in technical fields or equivalent experience in Defence or national security operations.
+ Extensive and relevant network across Defence, Federal Government, Industry, and Academia.
+ Hold an Australian Government security clearance or demonstrate an ability to be granted one.
+ Self-motivated and independent, with strong follow-through.
+ A values-based leadership style, with an ability to champion the KBR brand internally and externally.

+ Operational experience with Australian Defence Force capabilities.
