Our established and growing Civil team is looking for an experienced Civil Engineer to join in a permanent full time role in South Brisbane. Reporting to the Buildings Civil Group Leader, your will be involved with civil design and project delivery of civil aspects for a variety of civil engineering projects.
Reporting to the Buildings Civil Group Leader, your will be involved with civil design and project delivery of civil aspects for a variety of civil engineering projects range from early concept design and master planning through to detailed design, approvals, construction documentation and site inspections.
Stantec have a strong pipeline of work in the Health, Defence, Land Development (subdivision) and Commercial sectors and are looking for a career minded Civil Engineer to join their team.
**About the role**
Stantec are currently delivering some of Queensland's largest hospital and Defence Estate projects along with a variety of commercial, industrial, land development (residential greenfield communities),and general civil infrastructure projects.
Successful applicants will have good technical design background, strong consulting engineering and project delivery skills over a range of areas including earthworks, roadworks, stormwater, sewer and water network design, including clear knowledge of local standards and processes.
**Day-to-day responsibilities include:**
+ Attending meetings with clients and consultants
+ Working with a variety of clients and stakeholders, such as private sector entities, government bodies, and local councils and authorities.
+ Designing, coordinating, and managing civil projects from feasibility through to construction.
+ Offering technical guidance to civil designers and drafters in preparing detailed design drawings, including operational works designs.
+ Preparing and reviewing documents for authority lodgements and applications.
+ Addressing authority requests and exercising judgment in formulating responses.
+ Assisting with project management and business development activities.
+ Applying knowledge of software such as DRAINS, MUSIC, and AutoCAD to guide team members and review models.
+ Managing multiple projects through effective scheduling and communication.
+ Coordinating multidisciplinary project activities.
+ Preparing technical reports and specifications.
+ Providing technical advice to clients and stakeholders on project matters.
+ Conducting and overseeing site inspections.
+ Supporting Project Leaders and Managers to deliver projects according to schedule, manage profitability and technical risk, and maintain client satisfaction.
+ Contributing to the growth of Stantec's expertise in civil engineering, encompassing planning, design, and construction.
+ Maintaining and developing professional relationships with key clients.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
+ Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
+ Proven experience in civil engineering design and project delivery, preferably within urban development or building sectors, and consulting environments.
+ The ability to effectively prioritise tasks to meet deadlines.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of current civil engineering technologies, standards, modelling, and construction practices.
+ Progress towards Chartered status or RPEQ certification.
+ Experience in civil-related design and implementation of land development and building projects.
+ Advanced proficiency with industry-standard software such as DRAINS, MUSIC, and AutoCAD.
+ Meticulous attention to detail, diligence, and professionalism in all work undertaken.
+ Capacity to manage priorities, ensuring client requirements are fulfilled while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues both within the group and across the wider Stantec team.
+ Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including expertise in report writing.
+ Experience in pavement design would be advantageous, but not essential.

# Project Overview:

# Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil/structural aspects. You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes. _This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. + Work closely with Civil Engineer(s) on the design and layout of civil / infrastructure facilities.

+ Ensure the timely preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports or proposals, including problem analysis and review of design.

# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience?
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or other relevant technical discipline from an accredited university as well as a minimum experience.
+ Knowledge for design of underground services.
+ Some experience working in a multi-discipline project team.
+ Basic understanding of engineering work planning, scheduling and cost estimating / basic knowledge and understanding of technical and cost issues related to engineering designs.
+ Basic knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to design.
+ Basic knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved

**About the Role**
Working with a high-performing team of engineers, designers, and drafters with a passion for digital delivery, you will support the team in delivering projects across a diverse range of infrastructure and development projects. Your role will focus on the core civil engineering discipline, associated with roadworks, stormwater drainage & flooding, earthworks, pavements, water and sewerage infrastructure for key clients across Defence, Transport, Water Resources, Urban Development, Health, Mining and Resource industries.
**How you'll make a difference:**
+ Understanding of urban development principles, particularly related to site planning and servicing
+ Ability to work across multiple, interrelated disciplines such as infrastructure layout, earthworks design, pavements, and stormwater drainage
+ Familiarity with site grading and level design
+ Basic knowledge of sewer and water reticulation
+ Exposure to or willingness to learn civil design software (e.g. Civil 3D, 12d, AutoCAD)
+ Understanding of construction documentation and civil deliverables (plans, specifications, schedules)
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to apply engineering judgement to real-world design constraints
+ Comfortable collaborating with other disciplines (structural, architectural, geotechnical)
+ Effective written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and design reporting

**Qualifications**
+ **Bachelor's Degree:** You must be in your final year or completed a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
+ **Graduate Year:** You must have completed your studies and have graduated before starting the program.
+ **Commencement:** You must be able to commence work by February 2026. We are open to mid-year finishers who are able to commence by July 2026.
