+ Working closely with industry specialists to undertake and coordinate environmental impact assessments and approvals on Defence projects
+ Work alongside Management Teams, to ensure environmental matters are appropriately considered and managed at all stages of design development and project construction
+ Project manage, develop bids and develop relationships with clients and stakeholders on a range of projects.

**Qualifications**
**What we're looking for:**
+ A degree in environmental science (or a related field), with solid experience in environmental impact assessments and planning approvals across a range of sectors.

+ Demonstrated experience in the assessment of impact to environment and heritage values on the Defence estate

**Description**
Are you passionate about environmental science and eager to make a significant impact on mine closure and rehabilitation projects across Australia? Join our dynamic Mine Closure Team and lead the way in transforming landscapes and restoring ecosystems!
Our Mine Closure Team comprises of experienced environmental scientists, mine closure planners and geoscientists. We manage a comprehensive pipeline of projects primarily within the Pilbara and Goldfields of Western Australia, as well as across Australia into Queensland and Victoria. We actively engage globally with Stantec mine closure and restoration experts, and locally with State Government regulators and researchers.
We currently have an opportunity available for an experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team. This position is based in our Perth office, with flexible work from home options. We are interested in candidates with expertise in Mine Closure, Rehabilitation, Soil Science, Geological Science and/or Restoration Ecology to join our Mine Closure & Geoscience team to support our clients across Australia.
**Day to day tasks would involve:**
* Provide technical leadership and support to the team and broader business.
* Managing the delivery of projects throughout the project life cycle, taking accountability for overall time, cost, and quality of delivery.
* Prepare mine closure plans, including critical review of feasibility of implementation.
* Develop pragmatic solutions to support clients.
* Develop and coordinate technical studies to inform landform design, management of mine waste rock and tailings, and rehabilitation planning including analysis of soil or geochemical data.
* Conduct site-visits to advise clients on geoscience, closure aspects, and rehabilitation planning.
* Prepare clear, concise technical reports.
* Identify and secure market opportunities to shape business strategies, prepare proposals, budgets, and tender documents.
* Develop and maintain strong client relationships through the delivery of high-quality work and identifying new opportunities for collaboration.
* Expand your knowledge across various disciplines (terrestrial ecology, mine rehabilitation, remote sensing and environmental approvals), and undertake training and development to drive your career progression.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
* Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Soil Science, Restoration Ecology, Geochemistry, Geology, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
* Professional experience relevant to the role, preferably with an environmental consultancy or mining company.
* Working knowledge of international closure standards and guidelines as well as state-based Australian environmental legislation and policies.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including highly developed technical reporting skills.
* Well-developed skills in coordination of multidisciplinary studies in mine closure planning, geochemistry, waste rock and tailings management, or landform design and rehabilitation.
* Experience in ArcGIS will be highly regarded.
* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
* A keen interest in embracing innovation to continually improve our work.
