**Reports to (position):** Dialysis Clinic Manager
**Primary purpose of the role** :
Responsible to deliver patient centered care within the hemodialysis setting in accordance with organizational core values / standards of practice and codes and guidelines as set out by APHRA. To provide support to the Management Team by participating in the clinical, management, education and quality activities of staff and patients within the clinic.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Participates in the design, planning, delivery and evaluation of patient care within the hemodialysis clinical setting.
+ Protects the rights of patients by adhering to Privacy Principles and providing an excellent standard of care.
+ Responsible for own professional development and provides education to colleagues, patients and visitors.

+ Actively participates in the quality improvement process by reporting all incidents, hazards and opportunities for improvement.
+ Completes clinical and mandatory competencies annually
+ Performs defined management functions when required.
+ Maintains accurate patient information in medical records, including Therapy Data Management System (TDMS) and abides by confidentiality and Privacy Policy. Competencies (attitude, skills, typical qualifications & experience)
**Essential:**
+ Registered as a general nurse with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).
+ Current practicing certificate.
+ Understanding of the Quality improvement process and risk management obligations
+ Demonstrated clinical competence and expertise (or working towards) in nephrology nursing.
+ Ability to continuously reflect on nursing practice and apply learning as appropriate.
+ Effective communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to operate within multidisciplinary team.
+ Demonstrated organizational, decision-making and problem solving skills, combined with the ability to be self-directed.
+ Demonstrated ability to effectively perform staff and patient education.
+ Knowledge of nursing, nephrology and other professional issues which impact on nursing practice within the specialty.
**Desirable:**
+ Nephrology nursing theory and practice.
+ Computer literacy.
+ Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement initiatives.

What You'll DoIn the role of Senior Registered Nurse, your duties will include:
+ Performs professional routine, urgent, and emergency care.
+ Triages and provides medical advice to patients within the scope of practice.
+ Checks blood pressures and weights, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), draws blood, and collects urine samples.
+ Receives, dispatches, directs, and files relevant mail and laboratory and x-ray reports.
+ Responds, as needed, during emergency situations.
+ Maintains the clinics in a manner suitable for dispensing care (e.g., manages the sterilization equipment and the "clean" and "dirty" utility rooms; maintains the "clean" utility room for handling of sterilized equipment and the "dirty" room for the handling of potentially infectious material).
+ Other duties as required.
Requirements:
+ Must be an Australian citizen
+ Must possess a medical license to practice nursing in Australia.
+ Must have a BA/BS from an accredited institution
+ Must have a minimum of five years of experience working as a registered/licensed nurse.
+ Must have a minimum of three years of experience managing, supervising, and evaluating nursing staff.
+ Directs the administrative needs of the clinics.
+ Liaises with Government Contract Officer Technical Representative (COTR) in the administration of the medical clinics.
+ Knowledge of and ability to apply professional nursing principles, procedures, and techniques to patient care.
+ Alertness and skill in providing care and reacting to emergency situations.
+ Knowledge of training methods and sufficient interpersonal skills to develop a rapport with patients and co-workers during which instructional and educational information is presented.
+ Practical knowledge of laboratory procedures and guidelines; skill in collecting a variety of samples.
+ Maintain current CPR certification.
This role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.

The types of conditions present in this unit include coronary care, surgical and medical high dependency and Intensive care, neonatal and paediatric intensive care and trauma management.
The very modern unit is well equipped including Hamilton S1/C6, and Draeger V800, along with Prismax/Prismaflex CRRT Machines. 99% of admissions are emergency admissions, with an average age of 49yrs, majority indigenous, high Apache scores, and four times the national average of renal replacement therapy - a patient demographic like no other ICU in Australia.
