What You'll DoIn the role of Painter, your duties will include:
+ Perform pre-painting activities including scraping, sandpaper, and repair of cracks and holes before conducting general finishing
+ Execute pre-emptive maintenance to ensure long-lasting colors and minimize future damages
+ Responsible for the maintenance of ventilation, compressed air, and personal protective equipment, and report any issues with equipment to management
+ Responsible for the application of paints using rollers, brushes, spray guns, and finishes drywall using standard or specialized tool
+ Responsible for cleaning all equipment, including brushes and spray guns after use
+ Execute tasks using scaffolding and ladders to reach high ceilings or walls.
+ Other duties as required.
Requirements:
+ Must be a US or Australian citizen
+ Must have a minimum of five years of experience as a painter with experience using a wide variety of indoor and outdoor paints.
+ Must Possess an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance or AUS PV Clearance
+ High School Diploma or GED: Required as a basic educational foundation.
+ Attention to Detail: Precision and attention to detail to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with safety standards.
+ Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing conditions, technologies, and requirements.
+ Decision-Making Ability: Strong decision-making skills to resolve issues quickly and effectively under pressure.
This role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.

Tasks Include:

• Clean, sand, and smooth surfaces. Fill cracks, holes, and joints with putty or fillers to ensure a smooth surface before painting.

• Select, mix, and apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or spray guns. Follow paint manufacturers' instructions to ensure consistency and durability.

• Use masking tape, drop cloths, and other materials to protect areas not being painted. Remove fixtures like doorknobs, windows, or switch covers where necessary.

• Assist in estimating the amount of material and time required for jobs and maintain accurate records of work performed.

• Apply paints, wallpaper, decorative finishes, and special effects such as marbling or wood-graining as required by the client specifications.

• Fixing woodwork, filling or sealing holes, cracks and joins and washing them down to remove dust and grease.

• Provide colour matching services and advise clients on colour selections based on their preferences and the design of the space.

• Adhere to all occupational health and safety regulations, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials. Ensure a safe work environment by using appropriate protective equipment.

• Clean and maintain painting tools, equipment, and workspaces after completing each job. Ensure all tools are in good working order.

• Work alongside other trades professionals to ensure that all finishing touches align with the overall construction project.



Qualifications and Requirements:

• Certificate III level qualifications or equivalent in Painting and Decorating or other relevant field.

• Recent 3 years of relevant experience working as a Painter.

• Ability to problem solve and have critical thinking skills.

• Good oral communication skills.

• Proficiency in various painting techniques, tools, and materials.

• Knowledge of colour theory, surface preparation, and finish application.

• Strong attention to detail, with an emphasis on quality and precision.

• Physical stamina and the ability to work in different environmental conditions (indoors and outdoors).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Knowledge regarding epoxy 2 pack floor paint e.g., Drying time and spread rate.

• Mix and match paints to achieve accurate colours and finishes by combining pigments, oils, thinners, and drying agents as required.

• Lead a team of painting contractors and apprentices, ensuring high-quality workmanship, adherence to timelines, and compliance with safety protocols.

• Install wallpaper or wall coverings, ensuring precise pattern alignment, trimming, and a professional final appearance.

• Clean, maintain, and store all tools, brushes, and equipment properly after each project.

• Perform minor repair and maintenance tasks, including repairing or replacing glass and window frames when required.



Qualifications:

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (Preferred but not mandatory)



Other requirements:

• Minimum 2-3 years experience in professional painting

• Attention to detail and precision

• Good hand-eye coordination and physical fitness
