About the Opportunity
KBR is very well positioned, amongst a breadth of other existing and upcoming projects, to support the Department of Defence to deliver on the Nuclear Submarine Infrastructure pipeline.
During this exciting growth period, we have an opportunity for Principal Civil Engineers to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience delivering a wide range of civil infrastructure projects and will be familiar, in particular, with civil engineering design for building civil works, defence, and civil infrastructure projects.
Working within the Civil Engineering discipline group, you will provide civil engineering services to the Defence, Water, Transport, and Buildings markets. delivering projects including civil infrastructure, roads, rail, buildings civil, water infrastructure, and land developments.
As the Principal Civil Engineer, you will have a variety of responsibilities such as leading and overseeing engineering design, preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, streamlining the production of deliverables, and preparing technical reports and proposals.
You will ensure that technical adherence and quality assurance standards are met by managing the design team and providing them with guidance and supervision on all civil engineering deliverables. You will liaise directly with the Project Manager, Design Manager, and Client to provide regular project updates and prepare technically sound and well-written proposals and reports.

As the ideal applicant you will have:
+ A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
+ CPEng preferred.
+ Extensive experience working within an engineering consulting environment.
+ Experience working in a broad range of infrastructure projects within a multi-disciplinary environment.
+ Previous experience in Civil Infrastructure for projects in one or more of the defence, building civil, and transport sectors is essential in the role.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Familiarity with relevant standards and design guidelines to the civil engineering discipline.
+ The ability to obtain chartership within a reasonable agreed time frame.
+ Practical knowledge and commitment to Health and Safety.
+ Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a defence security clearance.

+ Relevant tertiary qualifications (Structural/Civil Engineering).
+ CPEng/NER accreditation.
+ Registered Design Practitioner or on pathway to achieve, highly desirable.
+ Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing teams and/ or projects.
+ Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships.
+ A track record of driving business performance through technical and commercial contributions.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and influence.

As Project IPT Lead, you will spearhead the technical delivery of sophisticated system upgrades while providing oversight of both technical personnel and integrated logistic support activities. Working with industry-leading COTS solutions and managing key relationships with global technology partners, you will ensure successful implementation across multiple RAAF sites while maintaining rigorous defence standards.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Lead the technical planning and implementation of major system upgrades, including development of technical specifications, interface requirements, and integration strategies.
+ Direct the development and implementation of security accreditation artifacts, ensuring compliance with defence certification requirements.
+ Guide complex system integration activities, including hardware modifications and interface management.
+ Oversee verification testing, site surveys, and transition planning across multiple RAAF locations.
+ Lead integrated project teams including technical personnel and logistics support functions, ensuring coordination between engineering implementation and supportability requirements.
+ Manage technical relationships with key subcontractors ensuring effective integration of their COTS solutions.
**Qualifications, Experience and Skills**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
+ Demonstrated experience in technical leadership roles managing complex system integration projects.
+ Proven ability to analyse and solve difficult problems involving multiple variables across various functions and specialties.
+ Strong stakeholder management skills with experience in external customer and vendor relationships.
+ Experience in developing and executing operational plans with measurable contributions to functional outcomes, including integrated logistics support activities.
**Desirable:**
+ Experience with air traffic control systems or defence communication systems.
+ Knowledge of voice communication systems and integration architectures.
+ Understanding of defence security accreditation processes.
+ Experience managing integrated project teams including both technical and logistics support functions.
+ Previous experience working with RAAF or defence projects.

+ CPEng/NER accreditation
+ Registered Design Practitioner or on pathway to achieve, highly desirable
+ Strong leadership capabilities and experience managing teams and projects
+ Proven ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships
+ A track record of driving business performance through technical and commercial contributions
