**About Our Role**
+ Permanent Monday to Friday rotating shift position (weekend overtime available)
+ Work on a diverse and unique array of food processing fixed plant & equipment
+ Base rate of $46.34 p/h (increases to $47.59 p/h from 01/12) + weekend OT paid at double-time for all hours
+ 15% afternoon shift loading
+ 30% night shift loading
Here at Simplot Kelso we have an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experience Maintenance Fitter to join our dynamic Maintenance team on a permanent Monday to Friday rotating shift roster. Simplot Kelso is our seafood and snacking processing plant, producing approx. 50 tonnes of product daily (75 SKUs) for the retail and foodservice markets including Birds Eye, I&J and Captain's Catch branded products. The site employs approx. 120 local employees, with approximately 95% of manufactured goods consisting of either Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) or Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) seafood.
Day shift 0630 - 1530hrs
Afternoon shift 1500 - 000hrs
Night shift 2300 - 0800hrs
**What You Will Do**
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager (via the Mechanical Team Lead), the Maintenance Fitter will perform planned, opportunity and breakdown maintenance activities on a range of food processing fixed plant & equipment in alignment with the site's Maintenance and Production schedules to support plant optimisation, reliability, employee safety and continuous improvement activities.
Working closey with the wider Maintenance team (incl. Electrical / Automation / Projects) in addition to the Production team, this hands-on, technically aligned role will provide mechanical expertise to Simplot Kelso's operations to;
+ Identify faults and perform breakdown repairs to minimise downtime and micro-stops caused by production machinery and equipment
+ Inspect, test and maintain machinery & equipment in production areas and the wider plant
+ Perform general plant and building maintenance work
+ Undertake specific project work upon request
+ Perform assigned tasks in accordance with all Simplot Safety, Health and Wellbing + Environmental programmes and goals
+ Utilise MEX CMMS to update work orders, search asset history and advise on any maintenance trends or opportunity for improvement and innovation
**Site equipment includes;**
+ Slicer presser, fish finger and Formax processing equipment
+ Radio frequency tunnels
+ Par frying area
+ Dusting, coating and frying / air-frying
+ Spiral freezing and frozen stores
+ 2 automated, robotic packing and palletising lines
**About You**
+ Possess a 100% commitment to health and safety in the workplace
+ Hold a Cert III Engineering - Mechanical (or equivalent)
+ Ability to interpret mechanical drawings
+ Experience with food processing equipment e.g. fillers, closers, packaging equipment, palletisers and conveyor systems will be highly regarded
+ Experience of servicing and overhauling various pump types
+ Welding experience of MAW and TIG welding, the ability to use workshop equipment e.g. lathes and milling machines in addition to experience with hydraulic & pneumatic systems
+ Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Windows suite of products in addition to CMMS software (Simplot use MEX)
+ Strong problem-solving analytical skills
+ Excellent communication skills
+ Motivated and diligent work ethic with a team-player mindset
+ Commitment to a rotating shift based roster
+ Willingness to undergo a pre-employment medical (incl. urine based drug & alcohol screening)

Simplot are seeking highly motivated candidates for casual **Production Operator** opportunities at our Bathurst food processing facility, in support of our 2025 / 2026 corn season. Simplot Bathurst employs approx. 250 people and having been a part of the local community since 1926, continues to produce Edgell products, as well as products for Birds Eye and Chiko. A significant investment / expansision has recently been completed at the site, transforming Simplot Bathurst into a frozen vegetable centre of excellence, enabling increased production capacity, and ultimately helping to boost local and export volumes.
Reporting to the Production Manager and commencing from early November 2025 (with likely end of season May 2026), these casual roles will work a variety of 8 hour shifts on a day / afternoon / night Monday to Saturday roster supporting our upcoming corn season production activities. Commencing base rate of pay $40.24 p/h (incl. of casual loading) + 15% afternoon shift allowance + 30% night shift allowance + weekend OT (where applicable).
Day shift 0700 - 1500hrs
Afternoon shift 1500 - 2300hrs
Night shift 2300 - 0700hrs
**What You Will Do**
Working within our process, packout or logistics areas - Production Operator duties will include (but are not limited to);
+ Inspection & grading of incoming raw material
+ Foreign object removal
+ Safe operations of fixed plant processing & high speed packaging equipment
+ Cleaning and sanitising of production lines
+ Adherence to GMP and food safety practices
+ Accurate completion of daily shift logs / system entries
+ Forklift operations (for those suitably licenced & experienced candidates)
+ Contribute to continual improvement (CI) processes
+ Work within an active manufacturing environment
In addition, for those forklift (LF) licenced candidates - duties incl;
+ Safe operations of counterbalance forklifts - transporting raw & finished good between production areas
+ Use of forklift mounted RF scanners + radio communications
+ Pre-start checks
+ Operate within cold store environment
**About You**
+ Possess a 100% commitment to safety, health and wellbeing in the workplace
+ Ability to work across a range of 8 hour shifts (day / afternoon / night) on a Monday to Saturday roster
+ Ability to undertake repetitive manual handling tasks in an active, manual role
+ Capacity to work to Standard Operating Procedures
+ Experience in vegetable processing or manufacturing environment will be highly regarded
+ Possess a high level of attention to detail with problem solving aptitude
+ Sound written and verbal communication skills, in addition to time management skills
+ Team player mindset
+ A current LF forklift licence and demonstrated operating experience (mandatory for applicants to be considered for a Production Operator role that include fork duties)

About the Role:

We are currently seeking a skilled and reliable Forklift Driver to support the day-to-day operations of our large-format grocery store. This role is essential in managing incoming deliveries, moving pallets from the loading bay to in-store storage and display areas, and supporting the team with general manual handling tasks. The ideal candidate will be safety-focused, physically fit, and comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced retail environment with deliveries occurring throughout the day.



Key Responsibilities:

• Operate forklifts safely to unload delivery trucks and transfer pallets from the loading bay to designated areas within the store.

• Move and position stock in the backroom and sales floor as required.

• Assist with unpacking, breaking down pallets, and replenishing stock in various departments.

• Support store staff with heavy lifting and manual handling of bulk items.

• Maintain cleanliness and clear access in storage areas, aisles, and receiving zones.

• Perform daily safety checks and minor maintenance on forklift equipment.

• Monitor and report equipment issues or hazards promptly.

• Follow stock rotation procedures (FIFO) to minimise waste.

• Collaborate with delivery drivers, stock coordinators, and store managers to ensure efficient stock flow.

• Manage and record stock movement in line with store procedures.

• Assist in keeping delivery and back-of-house operations running smoothly during peak times.

• Uphold all workplace health and safety standards, especially in high-traffic areas.



Qualification:

• Certificate III in Trasport and Logistics or a valid forklift licence (LF and/or LO)



Other Skills and Requirements:

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience operating forklifts in a retail, warehouse, or grocery environment

• Ability to lift, carry, and handle heavy items safely and efficiently

• Strong awareness of safety and traffic rules within a store setting

• Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team

• Physically fit, reliable, and able to adapt to changing store demands throughout the day
