The Position

This prestigious La Trobe University scholarship, in partnership with the Australian Office of National Intelligence, will be awarded to an outstanding applicant interested in connecting spatial and spectral information to understand complex materials systems at the molecular level with machine learning.

The PhD Student will work with tumour sections to develop multiple instance learning and weak supervision / spatial transcriptomics models to individualise tumour type, associated biomarkers and genomic characteristics to high precision. The resulting multipurpose machine learning workflows will lead to rapid precision diagnoses and effective individualized cancer care plans. Coding and user interface development skills will be developed.

This scholarship is open only to Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents, or New Zealand special category visa holders. The Expression of Interest will remain open until the positions are filled.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop scalable machine learning and computer vision solutions to revamp the media block of our catalog
- Analyze and extract meaningful insights from large volumes of Amazon's data to automate and enhance content
- Design, build, and evaluate generative AI models tailored to our business use cases
- Communicate clearly with business stakeholders to understand and align on requirements
- Conduct market, research and implement novel machine learning techniques to solve customer problems
- Mentor interns and junior scientists
- Publish papers at Tier-1 CV/ML conferences
Basic Qualifications
- PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of CS, CE, ML or related field experience
- Experience programming or scripting language like Python, Java, C or C+- Have publications on top-tier conferences, such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV or NeurIPS
- Experience in state-of-the-art deep learning models architecture design and deep learning training and optimization and model pruning
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing and implementing deep learning algorithms, particularly with respect to computer vision algorithms
- 5+ years of building machine learning models or developing algorithms for business application experience
- Experience using Unix/Linux
- Experience with popular deep learning frameworks such as MxNet and Tensor Flow

**Qualifications and Experience** :
+ 3-5 or 5+ years of experience working as a machine learning engineer delivering products in real world applications.
+ Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing scalable ML solutions, frameworks and pipelines for production.
