**Your New Role and Responsibilities**
Leidos Australia, is seeking an experienced Program Financial Analyst to support program activities including the financial management of multiple IT projects, annual budgets, monthly forecasts, month end closing including accruals, program performance reporting and project profitability analysis.
+ Monthly variance analysis and financial reporting across a range of programs and projects.
+ Compilation and review of budgets using actual performance and previous budget figures.
+ Coordinate multiple financial cost analysis functions, including cost allocation, setting up cost control systems, collecting data, controlling costs and preparing reports that maintain the Company's cost accounting system.
+ Responsible for administration and reporting of overhead budgets, charge codes and cost allocation.
+ Liaison to the business for indirect cost rates, compliance with Cost Principles.
+ Business partnering with delivery and operations personnel to provide financial advice to meet organisational goals.

+ Experience in a global business would be valuable, along with familiarity with systems such as CostPoint or similar and OAC/OBI .
+ An ability to balance competing priorities and meet tight deadlines is essential along with strong relationship skills, a proactive attitude and an ability to quickly learn new system and processes.

About the role

About The Role

The Western Public Health Unit (WPHU) has been established to strengthen the public health response to communicable diseases and other health issues. The unit is part of a system of three metropolitan public health units and six regional units that provide a state-wide network of public health delivery and oversight. 

WPHU is led and coordinated by Western Health and responsible for approximately 1.4M people in the LGAs of Maribyrnong, Moonee Valley, Hobson’s Bay, Merri-bek, Melbourne, Brimbank, Melton and Wyndham. Local public health units have responsibility for management of almost all notifiable conditions under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act (2008) alongside the Department of Health (DH), as well as non-communicable disease and health promotion activities in their assigned catchments, as part of the state’s overall public health response.

The Data Analyst is a member of the Data, Epidemiology and Surveillance (DES) team. The role reports to the Deputy Director, working closely with teams across the unit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide data management, report development, analytical and data visualisation support to the Western Public Health Unit
  • Strong communication skills to train and support other staff in data management and be able to translate operational and research questions into analytic projects
  • Design, develop, maintain, and operate systems for automation of current WPHU processes

The Targeted Programs and Implementation Support (TPIS) unit co-designs, delivers, and strengthens high quality programs and initiatives focused on enhancing effective educator practices and improving student learning outcomes in schools. We achieve this through intentional collaborations within TPIS, across the Teaching and Learning Support directorate (TLS), and throughout the department in the following ways:


• Enabling program effectiveness by leading the evaluation of programs and initiatives provided by TLS, to ensure they are driven by evidence and informed by an ongoing understanding of their impact.

• Leading the development and co-design of digital professional learning and resources across TLS and throughout the department.

• Delivering high quality, evidence-based professional learning, resources, and expert advice to support:

About the role

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for undertaking complex data analysis and providing insights to guide the directorate’s decision-making around the evaluation of programs. This role will select the most appropriate statistical techniques, interpret output from analyses, and draw evidence-based conclusions to inform program evaluations.



About you

You are a highly analytical and detail-oriented data professional with strong expertise in end-to-end analytics workflows—from cleaning and modelling data, to developing predictive insights using statistical techniques (such as regressions), and delivering engaging, interactive dashboards and reports via Power BI and MS PowerPoint presentations. You’ll bring a deep understanding of data structures, analysis, and storytelling, and be comfortable working across diverse datasets. Your collaborative approach, strong communication skills, and ability to prioritise in dynamic environments ensure that your work consistently supports high-quality, timely, and impactful evaluations.



Key knowledge and experience:

• Demonstrated expertise in applying statistical methodologies (e.g., linear and logistic regression, time-series analysis) to extract meaningful insights from complex datasets.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for advanced analysis or automation.

• Experience in Power BI, including DAX, data modelling, and dashboard design

• Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience in data science, quantitative research, statistics, or applied analytics.

• A collaborative approach and excellent communication skills to support translation of data into actionable insights.

• Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.



Essential requirements:

• Hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) for paid employment (or willing to acquire one)

• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the value of public education
