About the Role

The Role

Finance Team Management:

Project Management and Administration:

About the role:

The Chief Technology Officer (CTO) is a hands-on, leadership role responsible for driving the technical vision, architecture, and delivery of our Azure-based SaaS platform. Leading a team of 15+ Technical Leads/Architects, SDM, QA and Developers, the CTO will ensure robust governance, development, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and data privacy controls to support our fast-paced growth. This role requires a blend of previous leadership experience, technical expertise, team mentorship, and strategic oversight to deliver scalable, secure solutions while maintaining operational agility.

About you/Job Requirements:

In th SME SaaS environment, leadership of the technology team is critical. Our expectations of the right candidate for Nightingale could be summarised as:

  • Technical Expertise : Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Azure cloud architecture, with specific expertise in Azure App Services for deploying and managing scalable web applications and Virtual Machine (VM) architecture for customised, high-performance workloads. Proficiency in related technologies (e.g., .NET, Python, REACT, Node.js) is essential.
  • Cybersecurity and Governance : Proven ability to implement security frameworks, data privacy controls, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2, GDPR) in a cloud environment, leveraging Azure-specific and non-specific tools - including the governance, scope and delivery of 3rd party suppliers.
  • Hands-On Leadership : Strong coding and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in Web Development, Mobile Development, Azure App Services configuration (e.g., auto-scaling, deployment slots) and VM management (e.g., VM sizing, hybrid connectivity), while mentoring a small team. To be clear, we expect demonstrable experience as a Developer.
  • Strategic Vision : Ability to translate business goals into technical strategies, optimising our Product, Azure App Services and VM-based solutions for scalability and cost-efficiency to support rapid growth.
  • Communication and Influence : Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex Azure architectures to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including clients and board members.
  • Cultural Fit : Commitment to ownership, accountability, collaboration, inclusion, and sustainability, aligning with Nightingale's Western Australian roots and client-focused ethos including the experience of growing a business with remote teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and develop a skilled team to successfully implement the organisation's strategy, maintaining a positive work environment and high employee engagement. Work with the Board to translate the vision and mission into realistic strategic goals and lead the implementation of the strategic plan. Ensure the organisation's strong financial health by implementing effective controls, enhancing revenue, and managing costs. Drive continuous quality improvement and ensure the organisation delivers high-quality branch and customer service that meets the highest satisfaction standards. Build and drive political engagement and media awareness to further the organisation's advocacy and community impact. Provide leadership and governance, articulating the vision and mission of the organisation while upholding the highest ethical standards. Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with key external stakeholders, including government, media, and community partners. Oversee the management of key facilities. Collaborate with the Board to manage business risks and ensure the organisation’s risk management plan is clear to all employees. Build effective working relationships with Board members, keeping them fully informed on important issues to support their decisions.
