About the opportunity:
We’re looking for a passionate Community Development Officer to join our Far North Coast Communities team. In this role, you’ll work directly with young people, residents, and local stakeholders to build resilience, create opportunities, and bring life back into communities impacted by the recent floods.
- Build trust and connections with young people and residents in the Community Village.
- Facilitate meaningful, pro-social activities that bring people together.
- Support communities to recover, grow stronger, and access the networks and services they need.
- Collaborate with residents to design and deliver events and initiatives that truly matter to them.
- Be a mentor, advocate, and creative problem solver who helps individuals and communities take steps forward.
About You:
You’re someone who cares deeply about people and communities. With experience in community development, youth work, or social sciences , you’ll bring:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A genuine understanding of the challenges faced by regional and Aboriginal communities' post-floods.

**What does a Graduate Civil Engineer in Community Development do?**
+ Deliver project design/drafting for a range of projects including road and drainage design for civil and urban development projects, stormwater design to WSUD standards, sewer reticulation, water and recycled water supply design and pump station design.
* Ensure all designs are checked and approved by Registered Engineer and Project Manager prior to forwarding to the relevant authorities.
* Liaise with authorities as required, to ensure authority approvals are gained efficiently and timely.
* Undertake site inspections for projects as required and directed, to ensure site conditions are considered in the design process.
* Attend meetings with local authorities and stakeholders as required and directed.
* Develop and maintain knowledge and competence in the use of civil engineering standards, 12D Design Software including drainage design, as well as AutoCAD drafting software.
* Promote and provide a safe working environment for all team members.
* Ensure professional standards are maintained and company objectives in relation to budget targets, service quality, reputation, OH&S and environmental standards are met.
**About You**
+ Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, recognised by Engineers Australia as eligible for membership as a professional engineer.
+ Passion for learning and problem-solving
+ Eligible to work in Australia
+ Currently in final year of degree or 1-2 years post-graduation
