About the role
As a Civil Engineer at BYH Builders', you will play a crucial role in the design and construction of major building projects in the Perth metropolitan area. This full-time position will see you collaborating closely with the broader engineering and construction teams to deliver high-quality, sustainable solutions that drive the growth and success of the business.
What you'll be doing
Conducting site assessments and feasibility studies to inform the planning and design of new civil engineering project
Liaising with relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and standards
Providing on-site supervision and technical support during the construction phase
Identifying and implementing innovative solutions to optimize project outcomes
Contributing to the continuous improvement of the company's engineering practices and procedures
Scheduling jobs while managing subcontractors to deliver job on time.
Coordinating with trades to get work done on time keeping in mind the Australian sand BYH standards.
What we're looking for
A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field
Chartered status with Engineers Australia or eligibility for chartered membership
Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar civil engineering role, preferably within the construction industry
Strong technical skills in areas such as residential building and sub division.
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficiency in the use of industry-standard design and analysis software

About The Position
Join the City of Gosnells as a Plant Operator/General Hand and play a key role in delivering annual construction projects. You'll transport materials between worksites, support the team with hands-on tasks, and take ownership of precision measuring, plan reading, and quality control. Operate a range of machinery including skid steer, front-end loader, rollers, and water cart—all while helping shape the city's future.
What We Are Looking For
Applicants should be able to demonstrate:
Relevant experience in a similar role in civil engineeringDelivering quality and desirable service levels in the context of the position requirements.Demonstrate an ability to contribute and apply analytical and problem-solving skills in matters relating to road construction.Proven ability to prioritise and monitor personal workload with minimal supervision to achieve agreed outcomes within specified timeframes.Ability to work effectively as a team member, exercising initiative and judgement whilst working with minimal supervision.

Required Experience, Skills and Qualifications
Candidates must have valid Australian work rights to be eligible for this position.
Essential
Minimum 3 years experience in commercial Construction is essential, with a verifiable stable work record and references.
Be physically fit
Valid manual driver's license is essential with own reliable car
Adhering to occupational health & safety requirements, completing SWMS, JSEA's
Driving manual transmission vehicles, picking up machinery, equipment & towing loaded trailers regularly.
Construction White Card.
National Police Clearance (within 12 months)
Working with Children's Clearance (or willing to apply for one)
Experience in using electrical tools eg: quick cuts, chain saw
Takes ownership and pride in work with attention to detail essential
Be willing to adapt quickly to new situations
Desirable
Excavator & skid steer certification
MR or HR License
Elevated Work Platforms (EWPs)
Fork Lift Ticket
Valid First Aid
