Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking to hire a Data Center Security Manager to manage the physical security at one of our Sydney Data Centers. You will be responsible for managing the on-site operational physical security of our Data Center and will have a thorough knowledge of access control systems and process, guard force management, reporting security metrics, security audits and incident reporting.
You will also understand and maintain compliance requirements with international standards such as (SOC1, SOC2 and ISO27001). You will also be responsible for the implementation of new processes and adherence to existing Amazon policy and procedure relating to security guarding, media security, CCTV monitoring and the protection of customer data. AWS's Data Center Operations Physical Security team is looking for a forward-thinking, results-oriented, innovative and inspirational leader with proven results building high performing teams. The Regional Security Manager will have the ability to develop strategy, execute and lead data center (DC) security operations across multiple sites.
As a Regional Security Manager, you will be expected to implement and verify compliance with security procedures, standards, and policies; while optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of physical security at our facilities. You will champion new initiatives for the physical security team and oversee implementation in coordination with multiple business partner teams.
The Regional Security Manager will have experience leading cross-functional teams, writing security strategies, driving processes to achieve industry-leading security and driving down costs through process improvement and technology enhancement. You will be expected to operate with autonomy, complete discretion, and your work will require significant creativity and judgment. The ideal candidate will be confident, decisive, influential and an innovative leader who can communicate a compelling and comprehensive set of outcomes to be achieved. You will have the presence and influence to define and enforce high standards for programs you lead, implement and monitor at all levels. You must be comfortable with ambiguity, and be able to define structure, processes, and standards where none yet exist. Furthermore, you will deliver on the physical security mission and tenets; mitigating risk and balancing tradeoffs in cost, efficiency and operational challenges.
Key job responsibilities
- Build trust, establish and maintain customer relationship with data center business partners to execute a comprehensive strategy that enhances security, while enabling our partners to build customer capacity.
- Responsible for planning, developing and implementing security plans and security programs such as Emergency Response and Crisis Management, Physical Security, Incident Management, while coordinating site investigations with the Global Intelligence and Investigative team.
- Maintains an extensive knowledge of complex industry trends, current security issues and security technology, and updates management on risk and threats against AWS employees and infrastructure.
- Responsible for performing continual risk analysis for the data center sites, particularly with respect to level of crime, terrorism, workplace violence, and threats from natural and man-made disasters.
- Responsible for providing leadership and best practices on security policy and practices to on-site data center management.
- Looks around corners and identifies vulnerabilities early and designs and implements a strategy to close existing or emerging security gaps and seams.
- Provides leadership and clear guidance and direction to AWS Datacenter staff as well as contract security staff to achieve current and long-range strategic security program objectives.
- Supports regional and global security leadership in conducting investigations of significant threats and/or the loss or misappropriation of assets.
- Develops and implements security standards and procedures for all contract site security coordinators.
- Liaisons with local, state, federal, and international law enforcement agencies for the locations of the Data Centers.

They will report to the NTE Security Ops Regional Mgr.
This position will be based in a control room environment and following a shift rotation schedule (7am - 7pm).
Key job responsibilities
- Interface with and assist in mobilizing vendors involved in system repairs
- Provide access control management support to - internal and external customers.
- Observe and report physical security system anomalies.
- Observe and report security incidents and policy breaches.
- Coordinate the activities of a professional contract guard force
- Oversee individual security vendor deliverables, track service delivery and request corrective actions from vendors as needed
- Foster working relationships to educate Edge/NTE stakeholders on false alarm reductions
- Extract metrics and observe improvements by looking at and analyzing data
- Verify Data Center security programs are delivered to meet defined global security standards
- Develop strategies for improving electronic surveillance and access controls
- Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations
- Collaborate with security managers in writing and implementing security processes and procedures
- Serve as a customer advocate by identifying security-related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions that maintain security standards
