We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Business Analyst with a strong background in Big Data technologies to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between business needs and technical solutions, ensuring the successful delivery of data-driven initiatives.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Gather and document technology requirements from business stakeholders.
+ Understand and interpret Big Data application architecture.
+ Prepare detailed Big Data specifications.
+ Conduct requirement walkthroughs with development and testing teams.
+ Liaise with business units for requirement clarifications and changes.
+ Review functional specifications from a technology perspective.

**To be successful in this role, your skills and background should include:**
+ Experience IT Business Analysis, with at least 3 years in Big Data technologies.
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage and interpret large volumes of confidential data in a multi-cluster MS Azure environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Ability to manage functional requirements and maintain stakeholder engagement.
+ Background in banking or insurance industries is preferred.
+ Technical Proficiency:
+ Big Data Stack: Spark, Hive, HBase, Apache Phoenix, Pig
+ Programming & Scripting: Python, Scala, Java, SQL, Unix Shell Scripting
+ Databases: Oracle, Teradata
+ Cloud Platforms: Azure, AWS, or GCP
+ ETL Tools: IICS, Informatica PowerCenter

The Junior Data Scientist is responsible for high quality data science and advanced analytics work which is the responsibility of the State Operational Data Store Program. This position will be expected to apply superior data science and statistical modelling techniques, tools and processes to the unique health data. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team and be responsible for investigative analytics work, structured statistical model building and the associated data engineering pipeline and platform for key enterprise solutions on behalf of State ODS Program initiatives as commissioned by NSW Health.
The Health Manager level 2, starting salary from $1 9,857 - 129,624 plus Super and annual leave loading, with a 38-hour work week.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Complete advanced data analysis and data scientist related tasks for projects undertaken by the State ODS Program team.
- Review and develop machine learning based algorithms and where appropriate, tune or tweak the algorithms to ensure it is relevant, output is reproducible and reflects modern techniques.
- Perform algorithm validation including relevant documentation of test case and evidence of test execution outcomes
- Interpret output derived from algorithms generated and understand the assumptions applied during development of algorithms and the limitations.
- Providing output of the developed algorithms to the development team in a manner which allows for the deployment in an application production environment.
We are seeking a motivated and committed individual who can support the work of NSW Health with the following experience;
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and / or relevant experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, Actuarial, Mathematics, and Statistics. A history of openness and curiosity to explore new analytics techniques and data engineering principles and tools is essential.
- Experience (>1 years) with a range of analytics methodologies, ideally including predictive modelling (e.g. Generalised Linear Model regression, discriminant analysis, or similar)
- Experience (>1 years) in machine learning concepts and algorithms (e.g. supervised and unsupervised learning, regression, classification, clustering, and natural language processing (NLP), deep learning techniques, neural networks etc.) is desirable.
- Experience (>1 years) in the utilisation of SQL, Python, Jupyter Notebook and Panda/ Numpy/ SQLAlchemy/ Matplotlib Library
- Experience (>1 years) in data wrangling process and demonstrated competency in cleaning and organising complex dataset.
