What You'll Be Doing:
As a Design Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering critical water and defence infrastructure-think wastewater systems, treatment plants, desalination, chemical dosing, hydrogen solutions, and Defence infrastructure.
You'll be involved from early concept through to detailed design, bringing together multidisciplinary teams and engaging closely with clients to ensure quality, cost, and schedule are all aligned. You'll help create solutions that are innovative, sustainable, and beneficial for generations to come.
Your Key Responsibilities:
+ Lead the design delivery across multiple projects and programs with a focus on collaboration, quality, and outcomes.
+ Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and shared goals.

What You'll Bring:

The Opportunity
KBR's Water business in Brisbane has grown significantly over the past few years, to help support this growth, we are looking for an experienced Design Manager. Through accurate forecasting of time, cost and quality outcomes the Design Manager will make evidenced based decisions that consider multiple risk factors to ensure they are managed appropriately.
The Design Manager's responsibilities will focus on ensuring the delivery of early stage detailed designs across multi-disciplinary engineering, environmental, safety and sustainability.
You will be accountable for leading, supporting and empowering a highly skilled group of people, generating the opportunity for staff to grow. Communicating readily with clients and key stakeholders to ensure a collaborative approach will be key.
Who are you?
The ideal candidate will have extensive Design Management/Project Management skills in cost, schedule, risk and change management. It is expected that you will have a tertiary qualification in Engineering or related degree, significant industry experience will also be considered.
You will have the ability to manage large, complex projects and/or programs of work with multiple stakeholders in challenging environments. You will lead and develop teams using your interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally. Exposure to defence will be highly desirable, building structures or building services also highly sought after.
It is expected that you will have exposure to both Design and Project Management in FEED or detailed design. Strong communication, stakeholder management skills along with change leadership experience will be highly regarded.

You will plan, program and coordinate studies, investigation, design and construction management projects, as Design Manager or Project Technical Lead, to deliver the agreed outputs on budget, on time and to high quality standards. You will also develop strong working relationships with clients by delivering valuable business solutions and understanding the client's business.
**A day in the life of a Principal Design Manager looks like:**
* Coordinate all multi‐disciplinary activities and inputs by the technical team, including specialist inputs, to ensure an integrated technical solution.
* Deliver outputs on time and to an appropriate quality
* Bring a can-do solution-focussed attitude to our projects
* Leading engineering projects and managing internal engineering disciplines as well as subcontractors.
* Support our delivery teams during design and construction, acting in a senior leadership and management role on projects. Develop strong client relationships
* Undertake internal technical reviews and verification checks on all aspects of water and wastewater projects.
* Focus on the development of our water and wastewater project delivery expertise, locally and across the ANZ business.

* Assist in the pursuit and proposal phase of key business development opportunities
* Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal and ensuring that proposals are prepared to a high standard
* Facilitating design coordination and review meetings with clients and stakeholders, including knowledge of engineering assurance processes and a systems approach to design reviews
* Prepare contract technical specifications, scope of works and technical schedules.
**To be successful for this role you'll present:**
* Tertiary Qualification in relevant Engineering field along with CPEng and RPEQ (or ability to obtain).
* Atleast 10 years civil or process-mechanical water infrastructure engineering experience - design and construction.
