# Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets. Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
# Job Summary:
In this role, you will plan, develop, and review control systems design work, produce drawings and documentation, and prepare design estimates for a project. You will coordinate with clients, facilitate technical discussions, and review and approve drawings, calculations, and bid summaries. You will solve complex technical issues and ensure control systems designs comply with all regulations and standards.
_This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership_
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Leads or administers work of Control Systems designers and drafters for a business line technology to include?the preparation of layouts, study drawings, detailed 2-D and 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models and?construction drawings?
+ Develops designs for complete and complex Control Systems engineering systems such as earthwork, drainage, road?design, foundation, and steel detailing with minimum?supervision from which detailed scale models and/or?construction drawings are completed. Ensures Control Systems designs comply with all?applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards
+ Assists in constructing detailed scale models?
+ Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material?requisitions and bid evaluations?
+ Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved?Control Systems design standards to provide quality design,?reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy?
+ Participates in constructability reviews?
+ Prepares design and drafting procedures to standardize design?effort?
+ Coordinates or makes jobsite visits, as required, to resolve?problems and interpret drawings and documents?
+ Reviews Control Systems design scope changes,?as required, for project management?
+ Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for?project and discipline use?
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
# Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
+ Broad progressive work experience in design engineering, science or other relevant types of engineering such as systems startup, field engineering or plant operation in large scale mining facilities, bulk-material handling facilities, mineral processing facilities, industrial plants, utilities, process plants, or engineering/construction firms.
+ Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, guides & procedures and codes relevant to electrical and instrumentation discipline.
+ Strong technical expertise with experience in designing protection and control circuits.
+ Proven experience in engineering design tools such as MicroStation, AutoCAD and Navisworks Simulate. Experience with Smart3D and Smart Instrumentation highly regarded.

To assist the control systems engineering team in the delivery of control systems designs for various clients and projects, from pre-feasibility phase through study and construction to close out.

+ Development of 3D Model in S3D and extraction of Instrument, RIO Cabinets and Junction Box Location Plan drawings in Smart Sketch.
+ Preparation of Instrument Wiring Drawing and Loop Drawings using SPI Wiring and Loop Generation Modules.
+ Development of Cable Block Diagrams, Cable Schedule, Cable Routing & Tray Route Layout, JB Termination Drawing, Control & network patch panels drawings.
+ Preparation of Fire & Gas System Layout Drawings. Develop Instrument Hook Up Drawings using MicroStation and AutoCAD and generation of Hook Up Sketches using SPI.
+ Preparation of Tray / Trench Layouts & Cable Routing Index and MCT Layouts. Responsible for 30%, 50% and 90% Model Reviews and resolution of tags with Client, Sub Contractors and Vendors.
+ Perform Clash Checks in 3D Model and synchronise with other disciplines and other stake holder(s) to develop a clash free system design.
+ Support I&C commodities in Modularized Design. Preparation of Control Room and Electrical Substation Layout Drawings.
+ Preparation of Material Take-Offs and development of Material Requisition of Instrumentation for Cables, Conduits, Instrumentation Bulks. Locate and optimization of Fan Out Cable Lengths of Remote I/O Cabinets, Loading of JB and RIO Cabinets, estimation of Fan out cable and Home Run Cable Length for FEED estimates.
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Minimum requirement of 3-year diploma in Electronics & Telecommunications or Instrumentation & Control Systems from an accredited college or university.
+ Typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience.
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Highly proficient in S3D, SPI, SPR, Navisworks, PDS, AutoCAD, MicroStation and Bluebeam.
+ Thorough knowledge in P&IDs, Cable Schedule, IO List and Network Architecture.
+ Fire & Gas Layout and interpretation of NFPA 72.
+ Remote I/O Design of major DCS Vendors. Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.

+ The person appointed will be responsible to work with and across a strong Transmission and Distribution Team and to provide the appropriate business development, technical support, and deliver quality project outcomes on time and on-budget delivery.
+ This position requires you to be responsible for the development of the substation HV system, specifications, and interface with other disciplines on design issues across the substation configuration, equipment rating, and layout, earthing, insulation coordination, HV cables, and conduit designs.
+ You will be given the unique opportunity to work with one of our key clients who are about to embark on an ambitious major transmission works program of a scale not seen in the Australian electricity sector in many decades.

Basic Qualifications
