About the role
We are seeking an experienced optical or Laser technician to join a specialist team, working on one of the organisation's key operational programs. Reporting to the Repair Facility Manager, our Technicians address the client's routine and ad-hoc maintenance requirements a suite of Night Fighting Equipment (NFE) products.
The primary remit of this role is to carry out assembly, calibration and preventative maintenance activities on precision optical test equipment. Your activities can include but not be limited to conducting technical inspections and level appropriate repairs to allocated units, supporting root cause failure analysis investigations, providing technical day-to-day support across the NFE product range, ensuring repair part stock levels are maintained and supporting quality control activities as directed by your lead.
About you

**Job Description**
Your role as the Wind Farm Field Service Technician will see you interface regularly with the Service Managers, Customer, internal technical team, other GE Onshore wind farms, contractors and the local community. Joining the resident site team in performing scheduled and unscheduled servicing of wind turbines and site infrastructure, undertaking tasks including annual maintenance, retrofit works, major component exchange and fault finding.
Based at our Boco Rock Wind Farm Project, located 10km from the town of Nimmitabel and 60km from Jindabyne. The 67 turbines have a combined generation capacity of 113 MW, giving the wind farm the capability of supplying renewable power to 45,000 homes across the state!
Wind Turbine specific training will be provided to the successful applicants.
**Essential Responsibilities:**
+ Interpret the requirements of GE manuals, specifications, bulletins, and complete assigned tasks in accordance with GE work instructions.
+ Perform and ensure the proper maintenance and fault finding of assets.
+ Maintain reports using GE's various software management tools and databases.
+ Ensure all work is performed in accordance with the organization's JSA, LOTO, EHS and associated policies/procedures.
+ Report errors, violations, incidents, or problems immediately using GE reporting systems.
+ Submit enquiries to Engineering to ensure technical issues are resolved.
+ Answer questions from Management, Engineering, Sourcing and Project Teams as required.
+ Make a conformance or non-conformance decision upon completion of inspections.

+ As a minimum, either a qualified electrician or a qualified mechanic with electrical aptitude.
+ Electrical License - Grade A would be highly regarded.
+ Proficient in fault finding electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
+ Trained to an intermediate level in computer skills.
+ Must have positive attitude and the ability to complete physically demanding tasks at heights and be willing to climb wind turbines.

You will be responsible for the safe and effective maintenance execution for defined scopes on QGC Upstream Assets (including pipelines, wellsite's, ground water monitoring wells, Field compression Stations, Central Processing Plant and Ponds). **What you'll be doing**
You will be responsible for the safe, high-quality, and effective execution of mechanical maintenance across a range of oil and gas assets. This includes both planned and corrective maintenance activities, with a strong focus on reliability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Core Responsibilities
+ Utilize CMMS (e.g., Maximo) for planning, executing, and closing out PM/CM work orders, ensuring accurate asset history and failure reporting.
+ Perform inspections, diagnostics, servicing, and rebuilds of mechanical equipment including:
+ Pressure Safety Valves (PSVs)
+ Hydraulic hoses and systems
+ Caterpillar gas engines
+ Waukesha gas engines
+ Air compressors
+ Frick and Ariel gas compressors reciprocating/rotary
+ TEG FMC pumps and dehydration skids
+ Remedy issues through laser shaft alignment and flange management practices.
+ Apply vibration analysis and condition monitoring techniques to assess equipment health.
+ Support turnaround and campaign shutdown events.
+ Adhere to Permit to Work (PTW) systems and Safe Isolation practices.
+ Record work logs and close out work orders in CMMS with detailed documentation.
+ Deliver Safety Critical Equipment (SCE) and Integrity Critical Equipment (ICE) maintenance on time and as planned.
+ Provide support and coverage for Leading Hand roles when required.

+ Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills across pipelines, field compression stations, and ponds.
+ High competence in laser alignment, flange management, and risk mitigation strategies.
+ Experience with safety monitoring systems and industrial facility permit systems.
+ High Risk tickets (Dogman, EWP, Forklift), Heavy Rigid truck license, and Working at Heights training desirable.
+ Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
+ Willingness to reside in remote locations during work execution phases.
Roster & Work Conditions
+ Back-to-back position on a 15/13 roster, working 11-hour days.

**This varied and busy role will involve routine and reactive repair as well** as general maintenance of the building and its assets. As part of the Engineering department, you will assist the team that looks after our customers both internal and externally.
RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Carry out assigned tasks, including physical duties such as; lifting and transporting furniture and other equipment, climbing ladders, working in enclosed areas and pushing trolleys.
