Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be responsible for the engineering integrity of the systems, equipment and for the VLF Transmitter and supporting infrastructure. We are looking someone that can lead and maintain a small, high performing team that delivers engineering outcomes, following a rigorous engineering change process.
As a senior program leader, you will be member of the Program Leadership Team providing advice and recommendations for strategy, execution and growth.
**Key Responsibilities**
+ Definition, deployment and enforcement of NCSHEH engineering processes, including their integration within the program;
+ Exercising Raytheon Australia Engineering Authority in accordance with defined engineering processes applicable to projects undertaken within the Program;
+ Liaison with departmental leaders and other program staff to ensure all systems / sub-systems are appropriately monitored and supported, with necessary changes defined and/or developed to meet user requirements;
+ Manage the conduct of Engineering and Technical analysis for desired reliability, maintainability, availability, safety, and cost-effectiveness outcomes including the conduct of in-depth investigations and providing recommendations for actions.
+ Development and implementation of engineering changes according to company and program procedures;
+ Leadership of technical reviews and audits within the Program as well as planning, estimating, resourcing and scheduling of engineering tasks;
+ Liaison with the Commonwealth Representative on project engineering issues, design process, engineering development and life-cycle support; and timely notification to the Commonwealth of all defects and design deficiencies as they become apparent.
**Skills, Experience and Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline.
+ At least eight years of professional engineering (post-graduate) experience.
+ Experience in Engineering and project-engineering management.
+ Experience in leading a diverse range of technical disciplines and staff.
+ Solid understanding of applicable contract and legislated requirements and the suitable application of technical specifications and standards.

**What you'll do**
- Lightsource bp's Commercial Engineering Team provides technical support across all areas of the global organisation and for projects being developed across the globe.
- Contributing to and supporting all areas of Lightsource bp's Commercial Engineering Team.
- Being accountable for projects in Australia & New Zealand in terms of technical aspects across all phases: early development, pre-construction, and construction.
Core Responsibilities
- Manage engineering activities to support the Project Development process (including acquisitions), across all technical aspects.
- Lead the Technical Due Diligence (acquisition and/or financing) and manage internal and external engineering service providers.
- Undertake Energy Yield Assessments (EYA).
- Undertake optioneering analysis and LCOE optimisation and analysis for new projects.
- Support the assessment of new PV & BESS technologies (modules, inverters, structures, BESS).
- Lead the development of Basic Design, including instructing equipment sizing, layouts, SLDs, civils and BOP equipment and systems.
- Lead the development and authoring of OEM Supply Agreement, EPC, ICP and O&M Contract Technical Appendices, including performance and availability guarantees.
- Manage engineering activities to support Project Managers as needed across all technical aspects during Construction period, Commissioning, Works Completion, COD, PAC and FAC. This may require some site-based work.
- Coordinate and manage Technical Advisors (OE, LTA, etc) locally and internationally.
- Review OEM, EPC, ICP and O&M Contractor bids, reports, orders, etc for compliance with Principal's Requirements and Contract appendices.
- Lead the technical negotiations with OEMs and EPC, ICP and O&M Contractors.
- Undertake site visits to both new greenfield sites and sites under construction.
- Support on engineering analysis of performance, availability, curtailment and evaluation of new technologies as required.
**Who we're looking for**
Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of solar PV technologies and constituent components (PV modules, inverters, mounting structures, trackers, switchgear, transformers etc).
- Strong knowledge of BESS technologies and constituent components (cells, racks, inverters, BMS, EMS etc).
- Strong knowledge of OEM, EPC, ICP and O&M contracts, including Technical Appendices.
- Strong knowledge of Hybrid generating systems including control theory, energy modelling and Integrated Resource Provider classifications as defined by AEMO and the NER in Australia.
- Good understanding of PPAs, Grid Connection Agreements and technical inputs to Financial Models.
- Good experience in undertaking Energy Yield Assessment (EYA) and detailed knowledge of pertinent factors affecting solar farm performance.
- Good knowledge of solar energy resource assessment methodologies and of simulation software including PVSYST or similar (AutoCAD, ArcGIS or other Wind or Battery (BESS) modelling software is a plus).
- Good knowledge of the main players in the industry (OEMs, Technical Advisors, investors, EPCs, NSPs, etc).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Masters in Renewable Energy or related field.
Experience
- 7+ years of experience in the Renewable Energy industry, in both Solar PV and BESS sectors.
- Experience in undertaking Energy Yield Assessment (EYA) and good knowledge of pertinent factors affecting PV and BESS plant performance.
- Experience with large-scale Solar PV, BESS and Hybrid projects in the region, working either on the Developer, EPC Contractor, or Technical Advisor side.
- Experience/expertise in HV substation and Wind technologies is a strong plus.

- Work with the team and the wider network to harness the technical expertise available and build solutions.
- Support the Senior Maintenance and Engineering Manager as they work with the Site Safety department & Site Leadership to implement, record and audit safety and statutory compliance programs to provide a safe working environment for all staff.

A day in the life
After safety, the most important part of the role is leading your team and managing their performance and development, including organising additional training.

This involves collecting data and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. You'll also have a chance to create an operational plan to make the site more productive and efficient. That will involve setting up new projects that improve everything from operational processes to equipment maintenance.
Basic Qualifications
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Experience delivering leadership to a team of +10 direct reports, with an emphasis on growth and development and team member engagement.
- Experience in liaising and managing relationships between a variety of stakeholders including third-party vendors.
- Formal trade qualifications in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a degree in a technical discipline (Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil).
- Experience of automated equipment including packaging machinery, sortation, and conveyor systems.
