**About the Role**
We are looking for a Civil Engineering Intern to join our Highways team in Canberra.
The team delivers a range of different projects working with funding agencies, national and local governments, highways authorities and private organisations. We are currently engaged in a variety of large to mega projects as well as smaller more intricate projects - all offering a broad spectrum of opportunities. Being multi-disciplinary projects, great opportunities to broaden horizons and gain holistic and all of project experience.

**Qualifications**
+ Undertaking a Bachelor's or Postgraduate degree in Civil Engineering.
+ Be in your penultimate year or earlier of study at an Australian or New Zealand University.
+ Able to commence work from mid-November 2025 to mid-February 2026 (Flexible).

The Opportunity:
The Engineering Manager leads and manages technical resources for the Mission Systems program, ensuring service delivery and fulfilment of KBR's obligations. This includes resourcing the Recurring Services team, supporting Contractor Standing Capability tasks, and establishing technical resources for the setup, operation, and maintenance of KBR's Support System, integrating it with Commonwealth elements.

The Engineering Manager anticipates future resource demands and skills shortages, ensuring capability growth. A strong understanding of relevant disciplines, standards, and best practices, including digital engineering, is essential.
As the technical leader, the Engineering Manager derives ADSS capability, ensures high performance of allocated engineering resources, influences technical strategy, and manages engineering policy, workforce planning, and professionalisation.
As a people leader, they guide technical learning and development, collaborate with Operational Units and People & Culture on career development, training, and professionalisation, and manage staff skills and performance.
They also support engineering processes within the ADSS Quality System, liaising with Program and OU Principal Engineers on Technical Assurance, including quality assurance, audits, analysis, corrective actions, reporting, and lessons learnt.
Balancing program delivery with technical assurance, the Engineering Manager advises Program and Project Managers, resolves workforce conflicts, and ensures optimal outcomes for the program and KBR.
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
Essential:
+ Undergraduate degree in engineering appropriate to a core discipline:
+ Established or eligible for professional registration in an Australian jurisdiction
+ Chartered engineering status is highly desirable
+ Minimum 15 years' experience
+ Proven engineering leadership and management experience in complex programs.
+ Experience of managing multidisciplinary capability teams in a defence or other assured regulated industry context
+ Proven people leadership and resource management including good understanding of competences, capability and capacity management.
+ Postgraduate qualification is desirable
+ Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian government security clearance

**Skills And Education Required**
+ A Bachelor of Arts or Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required; a Graduate Degree is preferred but not essential.
+ A minimum of 8 years of experience as an individual contributor and 1 to 5 years as a people manager is required.
+ Based in Canberra and understanding of the ANZ Federal sector is a must. Candidate must have Australian citizenship with security clearance (NV1 and above is preferred).
+ Experience which demonstrates a significant level of expertise in technical specifications required to sell NetApp products and services is necessary.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with employees within the department and across functions.

+ 8+ years of hands-on technical experience in cloud or enterprise software, with strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure (or equivalent platforms) across multiple domains. Broad exposure and adaptability are valued over deep specialisation.
+ Experience leading technical conversations with enterprise clients, from understanding requirements to presenting solutions and managing objections. Able to translate complex solutions into clear business value.
+ Experience developing technical strategies aligned to business goals, including coordination with cross-functional teams such as sales, marketing, engineering and partners.
+ Experience advising senior technical and executive stakeholders, with the ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, accessible way.
+ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Postgraduate qualifications or cloud certifications are regarded highly, however not essential.
