About the Role
Our client is seeking multiple Tunnel System Engineers to join their team in Tweed Heads. These are an estimated 6month temporary assignments, with a potential to extend. You will be required to work across a 24/7 rotating roster with occasional call out shifts, including evenings and weekends.
Reporting to the Manager, you will be responsible for the monitoring, maintenance, configuration and upgrade of local area networks including hardware and software, that support information technology, engineering and industrial control as well as other safety critical systems for tunnels. This includes preventative and corrective maintenance processes.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and attend to reported failures of Operational Management and Control System (OMCS) related equipment including servers, storage and network equipment in RTOC and TCB server rooms within regional tunnel networks
- You will be required to work on a call out roster including weekends and evenings to diagnose faults, triage and restore failed ITS (software and hardware) to ensure minimum disruption to tunnel operations
- Maintain operation of headend OMCS software and hardware equipment including SCADA, MS Windows, VMware, vCentre, Veeam Backup, Solarwinds, Genetec, Studio 5000, PLCs and servers
- Conduct monitoring and preventative maintenance including daily system health checks, weekly checks, monthly, annually
- Complete configuration and backup of specialised OMCS systems including Plant Management and Control Systems, Traffic Management and Control System, PLCs, Operating systems and Applications as recommenced by the OEM maintenance schedule
- Coordinate network and system maintenance and repair with external vendors and stakeholders
- Maintain daily logging of OMCS system faults and defect reporting maintaining traceable documentation
- Report and recommend continuous improvements
- Act as primary contact for any OMCS issue reported by RTOC.
- Triage and direct the fault to appropriate team where required
- Identify priorities and urgency of critical issues requiring attention
- Collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure partnerships, engagement and contribution of ideas

- Experience in leading the planning, implementation and evaluation of multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Confident in the use and application of project management tools and methodologies, including a demonstrated ability to organise and establish processes to ensure efficient and productive workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively build and maintain productive working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt communication styles and to convey complex ideas to a variety of stakeholders.
- Supportive team player able to confidently and sensitively coordinate, and contribute to, diverse project teams.
- Proactive and adaptive problem solver with the ability to prioritise, monitor emerging risks and issues, and to find creative solutions.
- Entrepreneurial spirit who will thrive in a fast paced and diverse role.
- Previous experience working in school education desirable.
