What You'll DoIn the role of Equipment Operator, your duties will include:
+ Receive and Follow Directions: Report to the Foreman or General Foreman to receive daily assignments, instructions, and directions.
+ Operate Equipment: Safely operate designated machinery and equipment, which may include a bus, semi-truck, skid steer, warehouse forklifts, front-end loader, bulldozer, motor grader, K-Loader, scraper, roller, or tractor.
+ Maintain Safety Standards: Strictly adhere to all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment to ensure a safe working environment.
+ Perform Routine Checks: Conduct pre-operation checks to ensure all equipment is functioning properly before use.
+ Report Equipment Issues: Promptly report any malfunctions or maintenance needs to ensure equipment is always in good operating condition.
+ Document Operations: Keep accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance activities, and any incidents to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.
+ Adapt to Various Duties: Be flexible and ready to perform various other duties and activities as directed by the Foreman or General Foreman.
+ Ensure Cleanliness and Order: Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the equipment and the surrounding work area to promote safety and efficiency.
+ Participate in Training: Engage in ongoing training and certifications as required to stay updated on safety protocols and equipment operation standards.
+ Assist in Site Preparation and Cleanup: Help prepare and clean up sites before and after operations to ensure that workspaces are organized and safe.
+ Other duties as required.
Requirements:
+ Must have a US Secret or an Australian NV-1 clearance.
+ Experience in Equipment Operation: Prior experience operating the relevant types of light and/or heavy machinery, typically at least 2-5 years, depending on the complexity of the equipment.
+ Maintenance Knowledge: Understanding of basic maintenance and troubleshooting for the equipment operated.
+ Certified Equipment Operator: Certification for specific equipment (such as forklift, frontend loader, or other heavy machinery) is required.
Desired Qualifications:
+ Commercial Driver's License (CDL): Required for operating larger vehicles such as buses and semi-trucks, depending on job requirements.
This role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.

What do you need to be successful in securing this role?

  • Previous experience in an operational management role within the Airline, Warehousing and Distribution or 3PL industry would be considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively managing and mentoring various teams
  • Be eligible to hold an ASIC Pass (Aviation Security Identification Card)
  • Current Forklift License preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • As you will be working in the Aviation Services industry, you will be required to obtain a clear National Police Check.

Caterpillar's Mining Center of Excellence (MCOE) team is currently seeking a Mining Equipment Management Consultant. In this role, you will be part of the MCOE team, responsible for providing expertise for continuous improvement projects, tool and process development and Equipment Management training. You will support Site Performance Managers' ability to deliver critical fleet availability and increase customer loyalty by improving customers' mining operations, processes, or Cat product performance as measured by improved machine availability, productivity, or cost.
**Job Duties:**
As a recognised expert in the mining equipment management field, you will be responsible for advising dealer and/or customer maintenance, operations, and leadership teams on Asset Health and/or Productivity related areas of concern by performing complex analysis work, accurately understanding status quo, and identifying and resolving problems that can be tactical or strategic in nature. Problems are often unique, and solutions can require original approaches. You may be tasked with modifying existing approaches or developing new solutions.
You will set priorities and establish a work plan in order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. Key quality goals will include Machine Availability, Customer Satisfaction, Customer Continuous Improvement, Equipment Management, Timeliness, Efficiency, Cost Savings, and Site KPI Achievement. You will be tasked with changing the way work is performed to meet quality goals for the measure(s) stated.
You will also support various Caterpillar and Dealer teams in upskilling in the mining equipment management space, through leading training workshops, project specific training, and coaching. You will be expected to mentor and develop future equipment management consultants.
**Responsibilities vary, but may include various combinations of the following duties:**
_Training_
+ Act as a Mining Equipment Management (MEM) subject matter expert for our Site Performance Managers, Dealers and Customers.
+ Deliver MEM training through organized workshops, individual training sessions or project work.
+ Coach, mentor, and assist other team members in mining equipment management and/or machine application practices.
_Project Work_
+ Organize and execute assigned projects according to dealer and/or customer requirements with minimal supervision.
+ Establish and maintain strong dealer / customer relationships.
+ Collect required information through a variety of methods (interviews, surveys, site visits, etc.).
+ Perform data analysis using suitable tools and systems to draw appropriate conclusions.
+ Provide solutions and recommendations that will improve key customer metrics, such as machine availability, production, cost, safety, mean time between stoppages, mean time to repair.
+ Present findings and suggestions to dealer, customer maintenance / operational leadership or internal Caterpillar with justification, practical advice, and successfully influence move toward common vision, goals, and expected results.

+ Act as MEM SME for tool development (Site Assessment Tool (SAT), Maintenance & Repair GAP Analysis (GAP), Digital Performance Plus (DPP), etc.).
+ Support development of MEM processes & materials.
+ Understand and deploy Caterpillar Best Practices for maintenance and repair and equipment optimization strategies and tactics. Support publication of new MEM Best Practices.
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in mining or mining related field or equivalent work experience.
+ Extensive mining related experience - preferably at the mine site level.
+ Thorough knowledge of mining equipment management, Caterpillar Maintenance & Repair Process framework & product problem management.
+ Experience implementing maintenance and repair improvement plans, fleet recovery or site improvement projects working with dealers and/or customers (availability, reliability, and/or cost).
+ Broad company knowledge and strong understanding of dealer operations.
+ Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
**Top Candidates will also have:**
+ Prior experience in site-based role such as Site Performance Manager, JSS Fleet manager, AHS Run Team or equivalent.
+ Strong understanding of cost per hour and cost per ton factors and how they relate to mining equipment.
+ Thorough knowledge of mining products (preferably Caterpillar products), machine applications & operations, mine site applications, autonomous systems and mine/dealer relationships.
+ Presenting / Training experience.
+ Understanding of Caterpillar Mining Best Practices.
The position requires extensive travel, both domestically and internationally. The location of the position is flexible within Australia (Melbourne, Perth, or Brisbane).
