Job Description:

• This position requires some heavy lifting and can be physically and mentally demanding, with intense, high pressure periods during the day.

• Deliveries are high volume, with multiple drops that are mostly hand unloaded

• You must be customer focused, a team player, hard working, reliable and with a keen eye for detail.

Education and Experience:

• LR licence (required)

• Forklift licence (required)

Delivery Driver Duties:

Loading and Unloading: Load and unload goods from the vehicle, ensuring they are secured for transport.

Route Planning and Driving: Determine the most efficient routes for deliveries and drive safely and responsibly.

Delivery and Customer Service: Make timely and safe deliveries, providing excellent customer service upon delivery.

Documentation: Verify delivery information, obtain signatures, and handle payments for deliveries.

Vehicle Maintenance: Report any vehicle maintenance needs.

You’ll be

• Starting your day early in the morning, sorting mail and small parcels with your teammates at the facility
• Completing your own daily vehicle safety check
• Loading your vehicle with your deliveries for the day
• Delivering outdoors in all types of weather to deliver to homes and businesses
• Paired up with our experienced Rider Mentors, who are committed to engage and take part in your professional development

About you

• You hold a full or probationary QLD motorcycle licence, and ride a geared motorcycle currently, regularly, and confidently
• On employment, you’ll need to successfully pass our mandatory and practical motorcycle assessment
• You are flexible with finishing times and working additional hours if required
• You have a good memory, great hand/eye coordination, and excellent attention to detail for when sorting mail
• You enjoy physical work indoors and outdoors and can lift up to 16kgs of Mail and Parcels regularly
• You will need to meet our safe working vehicle load limit of weighing under 100kgs fully clothed (including helmet)
• You are open to being flexible to transition to be trained and deliver on an Electric Delivery Vehicle if business requirements change

• Pay rate for this role is $32.34ph for the first 3 months, then $36.99ph once fully trained plus 12% superannuation

Training and Support

At Australia Post, our training and induction programs offer support to ensure we set you up for success. You will attend an induction in your first week with our Learning and Development Team followed by a site-specific induction at your respective facility and additional online learning modules. As a new employee, you will receive one-on-one coaching, followed by regular check-ins with your Manager and Trainer to track progress, provide feedback, and discuss any support needed. We assess development at the end of each month during your probationary period, with adjustments or additional training as required. The program includes site-specific inductions and hands-on training, building employees up to full delivery capacity within six weeks.
