Junior Geologist - ( IT )
**Description**
**About the role**
Our Environment & Geosciences team operates across the Asia Pacific region delivering sustainable solutions in Environmental Approvals and Post-Approvals; Environmental Compliance and Management Systems, Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology, Sustainability, Geotechnical and Contaminated Land.
Our Geosciences team provide a range of first-class geotechnical engineering services using a wide variety of investigation and analysis techniques. We currently have an opportunity for a Junior Geologist to join our team of professionals in our Mackay office. Our Geoscience team offers a wide range of career options and training including geotechnical investigations, geohazards, risk assessments, contaminated land and GIS.
This position offers a competitive base salary between AUD $70,000 and AUD $80,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
**Day to day tasks would involve** **:**
* Assist in assessing the quality of rock, soil, water and other site conditions.
* Assist with conducting field investigations, site investigations, remediation, compliance and preparation of technical logs and reports. Compile and organise data from investigations for engineering geology analysis.
* Complete engineering geology analysis, report preparation and design efforts under close supervision.
* Use knowledge of general concepts of engineering geology elements through investigation and analysis, to support engineering projects.
* Perform basic calculations to analyse and design engineering geology components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software.
* Assist in basic interpretation and verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards and practices.
* Work with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer.
* Assist the team in providing support services during construction that can include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information and contract document clarifications.
* Perform field work related to different design and construction related activities as required.
* Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff.
**To be successful for this role you'll need** **:**
* Bachelor's Degree Engineering with an emphasis in Engineering Geology, or related discipline.
* Ability to travel for work.
* Driver's licence and the ability to travel to remote sites for project work .
* Strong report writing coupled with excellent communication skills.

Our Geosciences team provide a range of first-class geotechnical engineering services using a variety of advanced investigation and analysis techniques. As part of a growing team, we currently have an opportunity for a **Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist** to join our Perth office and contribute to a diverse portfolio of work ranging from urban infrastructure to mining projects.

**Day to day tasks would involve** **:**
* Supervise and assist in geotechnical investigations including drilling and test pitting programs, CPTs and geophysical surveys, in Perth and throughout WA
* Conduct site inspections including insitu testing such as plate load testing, field permeameters, etc
* Investigation planning, premobilisation requirements, subcontractor engagement and management and preparation of laboratory testing plans
* Assist with geotechnical analysis, modelling, and design for slope stability, pavements, landfills, dams, foundations, retaining walls and other structures
* Apply engineering judgement to interpret data and develop practical, commercially viable solutions
* Conduct soil and rock logging in accordance with AS 1726:2017
* Prepare quotes and deliver high-quality technical outputs that meet client expectations and deadlines while demonstrating commercial awareness
* Collaborate with an Australia-wide multidisciplinary team of engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, geotechnicians and environmental scientists/engineers
* Support a diverse range of projects from inception to completion
**To be successful for this role you'll need** **:**
* Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering or Geology
* At least two years' experience including drilling and rock core logging
* Driver's licence and the ability to travel to remote sites for project work
* Strong technical report writing skills
* Excellent communication skills and client relationship building skills
**Physical Requirements**
* This role involves both office and field work. Applicants must be physically capable of working in remote field environments for extended periods.

This is a senior role offering the opportunity to drive technical excellence, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development. **Day to day tasks would involve** **:**
* Lead and assist in geotechnical investigations including drilling, test pitting, CPT programs and geophysical surveys across WA and beyond.
* Lead site inspections for such purposes as geological mapping, investigation optimisation, material assessment, geotechnical support during construction, etc.
* Planning, optimisation and management of site investigations, including client liaison, subcontractor coordination and development of lab testing programs.
* Undertake geotechnical analysis and design for slope stability, pavements, landfills, dams, foundations, retaining walls, and other structures, and delivery of interpretive reports to a high standard.
* Apply engineering judgement to interpret data and develop practical, commercially viable solutions.
* Prepare proposals and deliver high-quality technical outputs that meet client expectations and deadlines.
* Lead multidisciplinary collaboration with engineers, geologists, hydrogeologists, geotechnicians, and environmental scientists.
* Mentor and support junior staff, fostering technical development and career growth.
* Engage in business development activities, including client relationship management and identifying new opportunities.
* Manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring quality, budget, and schedule adherence.
**To be successful for this role you'll need** **:**
* Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Geology.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in geotechnical investigations and analysis.
* Proven experience in project management and client engagement.
* Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
* Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
* Commercial awareness and ability to contribute to business development.
* Current driver's licence and willingness to travel to remote sites.
