HV Secondary Engineer
KBR are seeking an HV Engineer with Secondary and Protection design experience to join a growing Power team working on Transport, Defence and Energy Infrastructure projects throughout Australia. We are looking for a skilled engineer who can work within a team and independently to support a variety of different projects. The location is flexible (Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane) but the successful candidate will be expected to actively co-ordinate with teams nationally to ensure successful delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Undertake various analytical studies including protection coordination, load flow, short circuit and arc flash hazard analysis.
+ Develop protection system drawings and SLD's depicting the arrangement and interconnections of protection equipment.
+ Calculate the sizing and burden requirements for CTs and VTs based on power system parameters.
+ Develop technical specifications and selection of appropriate protection relays based on the application.
+ Undertake calculations for relay settings, and produce comprehensive protection settings reports.
+ Work closely with primary systems design engineers, project team members, and coordinate with clients, contractors, and suppliers
+ Mentor and provide training to junior engineers in secondary engineering.
+ Supporting proposals and bid work for different market sectors
Qualifications & Experience:
+ Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or equivalent related field
+ Registration as a Chartered Engineer/Chartered Professional Engineer/RPEQ/RPEV (or the ability to become so)
+ Previous consulting/design/technical experience in the Transport, Utility, Defence or Infrastructure field as an electrical engineer
+ Proven experience in secondary design, including protection, control, AC/DC systems, SCADA, and related studies
+ MTM Accredited as Designer / Checker - highly desirable
+ TNSP or DNSP experience - desirable
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Ability to work independently and within a team environment
+ Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work to tight deadlines.

The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Work with internal teams to understand and respond to evolving user requirements.
- Lead Data center electrical designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set.
- Participate in site selection reviews.
- Critical Data Center equipment design including site-wide MV infrastructure, Generators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Switchgear, Transformers and Earthing.
- Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate electrical equipment.
- Work with local utilities to understand and define site utility requirements.
- Work with local agencies having jurisdiction to ensure compliance with IEC requirements, the various APAC wide design codes and other jurisdictional requirements.
- Review and approval of equipment submittals.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases.
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
- Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite field engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, electrical systems audits, and startup as needed.
- Be a leader within the global group as well as within internal and external teams that support Amazon's data centers.

Basic Qualifications
- Degree in an Electrical Engineering with Cumulative 6+ years experience with mission critical electrical design.

+ Project Execution control: Build effective Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) .

This is a contingent position based upon contract award
What You'll DoIn the role of High Voltage Specialist, your duties will include:
+ Performs routine preventive maintenance and repairs on standard equipment.
+ Constructs and installs system components, equipment, and fixtures.
+ Diagnoses and troubleshoots faults in installations.
+ Makes modifications to a variety of devices using standard test equipment.
+ Adheres to safety procedures when working with electricity.
+ Measures and controls electrical parameters.
+ Prepares technical documentation.
Requirements:
+ Must be a US or Australian citizen
+ Must have a US TS/SCI clearance w/ Poly, or an Australian PV clearance
+ Must have a minimum of five years of experience working with medium and high voltages
+ Must possess a Union/Utility MV and HV certifications, or the Australian equivalent
+ Must be knowledgeable of operating/maintaining switch gears, transformers, isolation breakers
This role will be located in Alice Springs, at a 4,400-acre facility with approximately 687,000 square feet of mission and support space. This position is expected to be onsite 100%.

+ Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft's Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
+ Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft's Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
+ Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft's Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
+ Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
+ Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.
+ Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
+ Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
+ Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
+ Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
+ Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.
+ Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program

+ 6+ years of technical engineering experience
