The Successful candidate will need to undertake and possess:

  • Install, test, modify and repair electronic equipment.
  • Evaluate performance of equipment
  • Inspect designs and finish products in compliance with specifications, drawings, regulations and contracts
  • Estimate cost material and quantities
  • Performing graphing results, test and prepare tabulations and charts.
  • Prepare diagrams, plans and drawings for electronic engineering work
  • Develop, construct and test electronic equipment and associated circuitry in compliance with the technical manuals instruction from Electronics Engineers and Engineering Technologist

Qualifications

  • Certificate III or IV in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology or another related field.

Key Responsibilities:

Grid Connection:

• Manage the AEMO and NSP grid connection process for projects.

• Preliminary analysis of transmission network data to assess connection locations and capacity for early-stage developments.

• Ensure Connection Applications comply with AEMO and NSP requirement.

Technical Liaison:

• Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and developers, to meet grid connection requirements. Offer grid connection support to other teams, helping them understand the requirements, costs, and timeframes associated with grid connection.

• Establish and maintain communications with external stakeholders such as Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO), network service providers, OEM, regulatory bodies, and technical consultants throughout the grid connection process.

• Lead the GPS and CA meetings with consultants.

• Take the lead in generator registration, conduct loss factor analysis, and assess the impacts of market rule changes.

• Provide technical guidance for design inputs concerning grid connection, substation, and collector network aspects of projects.

• Assist the operations team in managing plant changeovers and resolving technical non-conformances and other issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

• Stay updated with the latest R0&R1 regulations and industry standards.

• Ensure all grid connection activities adhere to R0&R1 and other relevant regulations.

Project Support:

• Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility studies to commissioning.

• Address grid connection issues that may arise during project execution.

• Support the procurement processes involved in negotiating generator facility contracts.

• Contribute to the development of effective business processes, systems, standards, and templates for efficient project delivery.

• Play a role in fostering a highly motivated work culture that encourages innovation and maintains a reputation for delivering high-quality projects to the market.

Documentation:

• Develop scope-of-work documents and participate in the review and selection of Generator Performance Standard (GPS) and Connection Application (CA) consultants.

• Contribute to the generator technology assessment and OEM selection process.

• Prepare and maintain detailed documentation related to grid connection applications, analyses, and compliance.

As an Electrical Colo Regional Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to Data Centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the 'go to' engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed, and will use your subject matter expertise and engage with diverse teams.

Key job responsibilities

Work with colo vendors to review the design for new Data Centers in your region, including design input, submittal review and incorporating AWS products to ensure the design is meeting AWS expectationsAct as resident engineer during new colo construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and handoverTroubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failureDirectly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including essential equipment, and event supportProvide technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiencySupporting operating partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades which improve availability/efficiencyInterface with operating partners, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operating partnersWork on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regionsInitiate and lead engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediation's

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience. 6+ cumulative years of experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation, oil / gas facilities. (Experienced Engineer) Possess excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, maintain high quality standards Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers. Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as resident engineer or hands-on (in the field) design consultant. Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment/mass production Previous ownership of fast track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects Basic understanding of both mechanical and electrical equipment/design related to data centers (Including but not limited to: uninterruptible power sources, diesel generators, electrical switch-gear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, air economizers, etc.) Have fluent knowledge of continuous operating redundant electrical systems, cooling systems, air flow containment systems and building management systems. (Including but not limited to: uninterruptible power sources, AC/DC conversion, P&ID loops, diesel generators systems and complex arrangements, direct evaporative cooling systems, etc.)
