# Project Overview:
The Ar Rjum Project comprises a green field gold project with three open pit mining operations with associated waste dumps and ore stockpile, a processing plant, tailings management facilities, and supporting infrastructure including water supply, power supply, maintenance facilities, offices, temporary and permanent accommodation village.
The Project is situated within the Central Arabian Gold Region, approximately 200 km north-east of Taif towards Riyadh and about 26 km South of Al Mouwayh, which is a small town situated on the Jeddah Riyadh highway.
Bechtel has been awarded the Ar Rjum gold project feasibility study update and related works by Ma'aden, Saudi Arabia's state-owned mining company. The scope will include updating the existing design capacity from 6 Mtpa to 8 Mtpa and preparing for execution, which is anticipated to kick off execution in 2025.
# Job Summary:
In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project's civil aspects where you will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil components and processes.
Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project's civil/structural aspects are met.
_This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership._
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Plans and conducts independent Civil work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of Civil engineering techniques, procedures and criteria on a medium size project or assignment in support of a global business unit for civil works on green field and brown field projects.
+ Leads the design, development, modification, and evaluation of Civil components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides, Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs).
+ Reviews and approves key engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
+ Designs structures using advanced knowledge of civil engineering in the areas of hydrology, hydraulics, road design and pavement design, geotechnical and earthworks.
+ Determines the appropriate use of various civil elements such as earthworks, pavement, rock, concrete, etc. to ensure appropriate material is used based on project requirements.
+ Originates and checks complex Civil engineering deliverables, such as calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
+ Coordinates and interfaces as directed with the day-to-day technical work of personnel.
+ Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to upper management.
+ Develops conceptual designs for Civil engineering projects or projects having specialized or unique requirements.
+ Supports preparation of estimates, staffing needs and schedules.
+ Prepares or oversees the preparation of discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and supports implementation and assists with performance reporting.
+ Coordinates with client representatives, as directed, to obtain their approval of Civil aspects of the work.
+ Conducts or leads special studies of new Civil engineering methods, materials and techniques.
+ Mentors Civil engineering personnel by providing on-the-job training for their professional development.
# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 15+ years of relevant experience
+ Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
+ Recently supervised team during study and detail design phase of project(s).
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Demonstrated experience as a Civil Engineer, preferably within mining and metals industry
+ Considered highly skilled and proficient in Civil Engineering discipline
+ Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways
