Reporting to the Associate Director Engineering, your new role as a **Technical Project Manager** is a leading responsibility in the project management and systems engineering delivery attached to a major Australian Defense Force (ADF) program. Collaborating with colleagues and key ADF and supplier personnel, you will work to meet project milestones and objectives in a transdisciplinary environment to deliver a fully integrated system.
Oversight requirement and activities in your new role include task analysis, specification, design, as well as system verification and validation to ensure functional interface performance, physical and qualitative characteristics and costs are balanced to secure stakeholder requirements.
**Key responsibilities of your new role include.**
+ Project requirements include undertaking the full remit of technical aspects of project management, leading and developing project team skills; coordinating engineering tasking, including planning and co-ordination, task estimation, allocation and management, resource planning, schedule development, project risk and financial management, responsibility for Earned Value metrics, change, issue resolution and reporting.
+ Review and approve technical documentation in accordance with authority levels.
+ Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer requirements into total systems solution; accounting for technical, schedule and cost priorities, as well as developing and delivering project and support deliverables including technical documentation.
+ Governance and compliance with policies, procedures to meet contract commitments, using a systems engineering approach and Trusted Agile methodologies to plan and execute engineering and project requirements.
+ Professional personal presentation in communication as well as collaborating proactively with key stakeholders including Systems, Hardware and Software design functions in-country and across international teams.
+ **Lead and champion the development of new design approaches, methods and technologies as well as process and quality updates with a focus on and commitment to continuous improvement and continuous learning.**
**Skills, attributes and experience:**
**Essential**
+ Qualifications (B.Eng, B.Sc) and experience in Project Management and Systems Engineering, in the design and development of systems and products across the development of engineering hardware and software components as well as proven background and experience in Systems Integration.
+ Core competence and proven skills in cross-team collaboration, strong communication skills with multi-disciplinary groups internal and external stakeholders - maintain professional standards at all times, including the skills and experience to lead company representation in various forums.
**Desirable**
+ **Proven success in developing and delivering complex, high technology products involving software and hardware through to delivery of integrated systems.**
+ Proficiency in Systems Engineering, including open systems architecture and secured cloud-based technologies.
+ Experience as a Senior Systems Engineer involved through the entirety of systems development, including requirements capture, design, decomposition, integration, plus verification and validation through to the transition to production; ideally in Defence industry environments.
+ Familiarity with engineering development in an Agile and DEVSECOPS environment.
This position will require the ability to travel in-country or overseas where required. Successful candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. About the Role:
As the Technical Project Manager, you will play a key role in the Core Technology team,
working closely with the Core Technology Product Manager to drive the successful delivery of

You'll facilitate effective collaboration between the Engineering, Product Management, Design

Responsibilities
+ Technical Scoping. Work closely with the product manager and engineers to break down

+ System Integration Oversight. Coordinate projects involving API development, third-party integrations, and internal system dependencies, ensuring smooth data flow and compatibility.
+ Infrastructure & Deployment Coordination. Work with DevOps and Engineering teams to
track infrastructure needs, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment schedules, ensuring production readiness.
+ Project Delivery & Prioritisation. Use lightweight project management processes that support teams without adding unnecessary overhead. Oversee multiple projects, ensuring alignment of team resources, timelines, and priorities with business objectives.
+ Risk & Issue Management. Identify potential obstacles and risks early in the project lifecycle, work to remove blockers, and keep projects on track through proactive problem-solving and escalation when needed.
+ Stakeholder Communication. Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical
stakeholders to define project requirements, objectives, and deliverables.
+ Progress Tracking. Use tools like Jira and Confluence to track the progress of projects.

Requirements:
+ 3+ years of experience in managing software development projects.

**Experience:**

+ Manage GE Vernova's contractual scope of supply and services
+ Plan, coordinate, and control all project activities to meet performance, cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.

**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred) or Project Management discipline.
+ Minimum 10-15 years of project management experience in the synchronous condensers, power substation, generation or transmission sector.
+ Proven experience with rotating electrical equipment (e.g., synchronous condensers, BESS, Datacentres & generators, motors).
+ Experience working on large infrastructure or utility-scale projects in Australia.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams, including subcontractors. Lead complex projects with high visibility and impact.

**Key Role & Responsibilities:**
**Project Execution & Delivery**
+ Manage GE Vernova's contractual scope of supply and services
+ Plan, coordinate, and control all project activities to meet performance, cost, schedule, quality, and safety objectives.
+ Lead and supervise cross-functional project teams including engineering, procurement, Quality/HSE, logistics, installation, Site and commissioning teams.
+ Ensure timely delivery and site readiness for installation and commissioning phases.
+ Track project progress and proactively manage risks, issues, cash flow management and change orders.
+ Manage staffing, performance development, and team consensus-building, acting as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.
+ Utilize analytical thinking and deep technical knowledge to propose innovative solutions to complex challenges.
**Stakeholder & Client Management**
+ Act as the primary point of contact between GE Vernova and the customer, Internal/External supplier's for all project-related matters.
+ Ensure transparent communication and effective coordination with customers, contractors, local authorities, and other project stakeholders to maintain the high-level relationship.
+ Attend and lead project meetings, site coordination meetings, Quality and HSE briefings.
+ Demonstrate advanced knowledge of project engineering practices, technical governance, bid evaluation, cost estimation, and technical development.
**Factory, Site & Construction Management**
+ Coordinate with site teams for installation activities, compliance with method statements, and contractor performance.
+ Ensure that installation and commissioning works are executed as per design, schedule, Quality and HSE standards.
+ Support or lead site mobilization, FAT, SAT, performance testing, and final handover processes.
**Risk & Contractual Management**
+ Manage the project budget and cash flow, including forecasting and cost control.
+ Handle contract administration, change management, and variation orders in alignment with contractual terms.
+ Liaise with legal and commercial teams on contract deliverables and claims management.
+ Engage and influence stakeholders, ensuring effective risk management and adherence to contract lifecycle processes.
**Schedule Reporting & Documentation**
+ Develop and manage P6 project schedules, budgets, and contract governance frameworks.
+ Conduct regular weekly meeting with Eng, Sourcing, Factory, external vendor and customers with Meeting minutes action items to monitor the critical path.
+ Apply expertise in modularisation and stick-built construction methodologies.
+ Provide regular project report updates to GE Vernova leadership and customer representatives.
+ Maintain accurate project documentation including overall progress reports, risk registers, cash flow sheets for cost control, HSE records, and technical submittals.
+ Ensure all deliverables and close-out documentation are submitted and approved on time.
**Required Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree in engineering (Electrical/Mechanical preferred) or Project Management discipline.
+ Minimum 10-15 years of project management experience in the synchronous condensers, power substation, generation or transmission sector.
+ Proven experience with rotating electrical equipment (e.g., synchronous condensers, BESS, Datacentres & generators, motors).
+ Experience working on large infrastructure or utility-scale projects in Australia.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary and multi-national teams, including subcontractors. Lead complex projects with high visibility and impact.
+ Familiarity with Australian Standards, local HSE regulations, and utility practices.

**Responsibilities**
+ Oversees the development and implementation of the project safety plan and creates and influences the safety culture on site through leading by example.
+ Proactively manages and administers contracts by providing technical expertise and proactive support for large, complex construction projects.
+ Maintains regular communication with the client, statutory bodies, communities and other stakeholders.
+ Provides overall contract administration, technical expertise, and support for a large and complex solar construction project.
+ Monitors the schedule and budget and takes initiative to improve profitability of the project.
+ Understands client drivers and offers value engineering proposals for functionality, cost, and schedule benefit.
+ Accountable for project performance and reviews performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
+ Negotiates and issues subcontracts, major purchase orders and progress payments and monitors their progress and schedule.
+ Leads review meetings with the clients and management teams.
+ Develops and ensures successful implementation of the project execution plan, including coordinating project commissioning and closeout.
+ Identifies and manages risk and opportunities.
+ Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors project team including direct and indirect reports.

**Qualifications**
+ Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
+ 10-15 years of progressive construction experience, with leadership and mentoring skills preferred.
+ Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation.
+ In-depth knowledge of construction industry including diverse project types, building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices.
+ Superior planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets, risks, resources and schedules.
+ Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing for the project.
+ Ability to identify and manage risk and opportunities on construction projects.
+ Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers.
+ Experience in leading a team, construction project facets and trade performance.
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology.
