You'll be a key member of our Water team who have secured projects that will change the way water in Australia operates forever. Our Water team offers services across the full water cycle, delivering major pipelines, large pumping stations, advanced water, wastewater and recycled water treatment plants.

As a Civil Engineer, you will work as part of the wider Data Center Design Engineering Team collaborating with our Real Estate, Construction and other partner teams. You will be responsible for the successful delivery of design delivery ensuring we continue to meet and exceed our industry leading quality and performance requirements.

Given Amazon's global presence, 25% travel is required. This includes international travel to inspect and audit current and future data center sites. + Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.
+ Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.
+ Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.
+ Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training.

Holt Defence Precinct, located near Exmouth, Western Australia. This includes services for the maintenance and operation of critical defence infrastructure including the Space Surveillance Telescope, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Transmitter and C-Band Radar.

Reporting to the VLF Engineering Manager, the mechanical engineer will assist the Raytheon Australia engineering team with issues associated with the VLF facility and interfaces to the VLF mission systems.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise
+ Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
+ Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.
+ Liaise with Raytheon management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures.
+ Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
+ Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.
+ Participate in technical reviews and audits.
+ Mentor engineering and technical staff.
**Skills, Experience and Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience.
+ Minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries.
+ Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.
+ Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.
+ Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.
+ Infrequent travel to Adelaide will be required to support engineering investigations as well as travel within Australia for business and development related training.
+ Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance. Eligibility can be found at with ability to satisfy ITAR material access compliance.

+ Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
+ Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia.
+ Understanding of different power generation technologies and international power standards, such US standards.

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the independent selection, evaluation, and application of relevant engineering knowledge, techniques and procedures in support of the safe and effective operation, maintenance and management of facility assets, infrastructure and systems.
**ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
Responsibilities/Duties
+ Perform technical studies, analyses, investigations and consultations.
+ Identify, define and develop detailed requirements for facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, replacement, upgrade and/or recapitalization.
+ Design and/or develop solutions for a variety of technical problems of moderate to extreme scope and complexity across the mechanical engineering discipline.
+ Review and provide technical advice on proposed changes to facility infrastructure and system changes, from general concepts through to detailed IFC designs.
+ Perform engineering calculations in support of facility infrastructure operation and design.
+ Provide technical recommendations, input, direction and advice on facilities system, infrastructure and equipment reliability, operation, maintenance, life-cycle management and costing.
+ Development of ROM costing estimates in support of facility infrastructure, equipment and system modification, upgrade, replacement and/or recapitalization.
+ Evaluate operational systems, equipment, processes and infrastructure in support of general and targeted optimization and improvement initiatives.
+ Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.

**Experience and Skills - Minimum Essential**
+ Familiarity with HVAC and hydronic systems, data centre cooling systems, building management and control systems.
+ Minimum one year of experience with building management and control systems, building management and control systems and facilities operation and maintenance required.
+ Experience with project management and leadership desired.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS**
Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.
**SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT**
