Contract Length : 8 week contract
Roster + Hours : 37.5 hours per week - Monday to Friday | 8am - 4pm
- Provide social care in the Women's & Children's inpatient team. Deliver essential clinical support across maternity, paediatrics, NICU, PICU, SCN and paediatric oncology.

About the Role:
As a Locum Social Worker in the Women's and Children's inpatient team, you'll provide essential clinical support across areas such as maternity, paediatrics, NICU, PICU, SCN, and paediatric oncology. Working within a multidisciplinary team, your focus will be on assessing psychosocial needs, discharge planning, crisis support, and liaising with families and services to ensure trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care.
Caseloads are allocated based on experience, offering exposure to both acute and sub-acute settings. While this is not a mental health role, experience in hospital discharge planning, child protection, and family violence is highly regarded.
This role suits a team-oriented clinician who thrives in a fast-paced hospital environment and is committed to making a meaningful impact in the lives of women and children.
Skills & experience
- Degree in Social Work & eligibility for AASW
- Recent hospital experience required
- Knowledge of child protection and family violence desirable

About the opportunity:
The Mental Health Support Worker - Family & Carer Mental Health Program - is responsible for providing education, training, and individual support to families and carers of people with mental illness, aiming to improve their wellbeing, resilience, coping skills and relationships. Essential Criteria:
- Certificate IV in Community Services, Mental Health, Youth Work, or equivalent and relevant to the field of work.
- Minimum 1 year experience working in your field of expertise.
- Understanding of issues and concerns affecting mental health carers with a working knowledge of and commitment to carers rights and responsibilities.
- Experience providing individual advocacy for families and carers of people with mental illness.
- Ability to facilitate support groups for families and carers.
- Understanding and application of the principles of Recovery Oriented Mental Health Practice.
- Demonstrated ability to develop individual support plans with carers, with a focus on supporting the carer to reach their goals.
- Ability to provide individualised psychosocial support to carers of people living with severe and persistent mental illness.
- Current drivers licence and current NSW WWCC.
