About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Nurse Manager or Clinical Nurse Consultant to join a compassionate team providing exceptional care services in Thomastown, VIC. You'll lead a team of dedicated RNs and support staff, ensuring smooth operations, clinical compliance, and continuous development. The role includes managing rosters, conducting reviews, mentoring team members, and overseeing care delivery to the highest standards.

This position requires both strategic oversight and on-the-ground presence - including approximately 6 hours of administrative work per RN duty shift. You'll also play a key role in HR functions, staff education via the organisation's learning platform, and medication management. This is a Level 3 leadership role (70 hours per fortnight) suited to a hands-on, approachable leader who thrives in a busy environment.

The role will initially require travel to Sydney, with all associated travel and accommodation expenses provided. This requirement will cease once the client relocates to Victoria; relocation date to be confirmed.

Skills and Experience

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse.
  • 5+ years' experience in a senior management or Nurse Manager or CNS role
  • Strong clinical knowledge and hands-on experience.
  • Proven leadership and staff management capability.
  • Experience conducting performance reviews and handling HR matters.
  • Ability to administer medication and oversee clinical compliance.
  • High-level organisational and communication skills.
  • Clinical Nurse Consultant (desirable).

  • Clinical Assessment & Service Delivery: Utilise advanced clinical assessment skills to provide high-quality nursing services including medication administration, wound care, and monitoring of vital signs.
  • Resident Relationships: Build meaningful relationships with residents, becoming a trusted and integral part of their daily lives.
  • Goal-Orientated Care: Collaborate with residents, families, and the multidisciplinary team to ensure care plans align with individual goals and enhance quality of life.
  • Advocacy & Communication: Act as a liaison between residents, families and health professionals advocating for residents’ rights and preferences.
  • Team Collaboration & Supervision: Provide guidance and support to other Nurses, Care Workers fostering a collaborative and cohesive team environment.
  • Holistic Practise: Apply critical thinking and evidence-based practices to deliver holistic care, addressing the physical, emotional and social needs of residents.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant legislation, standards and facility policies including the Aged Care Quality Standards.


Qualifications & Experience:


  • Hold a Bachelor of Nursing degree with current registration (AHPRA).
  • You’ll be adaptable, empathetic, resourceful, a great time manager, and be able to live Uniting’s everyday values of being compassionate, respectful, imaginative, and bold.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for enhancing the lives of older residents.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
  • Previous Registered Nursing experience in aged or community care is highly desirable however we welcome applications from nurses with experience in other healthcare settings who are passionate about transitioning into Aged Care.

What you’ll be doing in this role


  • You will be a clinical leader in the service, and you will develop, deliver and evaluate resident care plans to meet the individual needs of our residents
  • You’ll need sharp clinical assessment skills and will take the lead in providing clinical services
  • Get to know each resident and become a fundamental part of their life
  • Play an important role in making sure the care provided meets residents’ individual goals
  • You’ll liaise with medical and allied health professionals and residents’ family members to advocate for clients’ quality of life
  • Supervise and support our Personal Care Workers
  • Practice in a holistic way, using your critical decision-making skills to lead the team.

Who we’re looking for
