Job Description

Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we're the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain - and we're looking for talented people who want to help.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you'll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The Data Center Capacity Delivery Asia-Pacific Controls Deployment and Service (DCCD APAC CDS) team delivers and services the control systems which monitor and ensure the health of our data centers. APAC CDS' mission is to safely provide our customers with the unmatched reliability, security, and performance that AWS is known for. APAC CDS covers three core disciplines of deployments (of control systems in new data centers), projects (of controls capital improvement works at live data center sites), and service (of control systems at live data center sites), with additional specializations in the disciplines of colocated sites, systems engineering, controls fleet, on-call support (of data center control systems in the Americas (AMER), Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), as part of a global "follow-the-sun" support arrangement), and governance.
As Amazonians, we work in a competitive environment. Our customers are always beautifully, wonderfully dissatisfied. Being successful in our roles is not just about doing our jobs well, but also evolving and innovating. Change is the only constant, and applies to our customers, our roles, our team organization, our tools, and our mechanisms.
To be successful in this team, you will also have:
- Ability to thrive at the pace and scale of Amazon
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities
- Ability and willingness to collaborate with peers around the globe, which may involve some participation in meetings at odd hours
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically or globally as and when needed
Controls Coordinators in Operations Excellence are responsible for understanding the entire construction and deployment lifecycle, data center design types, vendor systems, and their impact on multi-million dollar deployment projects. In this hybrid role, they spend half their time processing critical operational tasks-compiling Work Orders, Change Orders,
and Purchase Requests while partnering with Controls Engineers, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams. The other half focuses on driving continuous improvements across operations. They identify inefficiencies in coordination workflows, and
develop solutions ranging from process automation and dashboard creation to policy standardization and workflow optimization. While the role particularly values experience with AI-powered automation tools, it welcomes all forms of innovation that enhance operational efficiency-whether through technology, process redesign, or systematic improvements. This role combines hands-on operational excellence with strategic innovation, requiring someone who can both execute today's requirements and build tomorrow's solutions.
Key job responsibilities
- Process Work Orders, Change Orders, and Purchase Requests with accurate documentation and vendor coordination
- Partner with Controls Engineers, Finance, Legal, and Procurement teams to complete critical deliverables
- Provide Operational Planning (OP1/2) inputs and support multi-million dollar project procurement processes
- Design and implement automation solutions to streamline routine coordination tasks
- Identify process inefficiencies and develop systematic improvements across coordination workflows
Success measures include:
- Number of POs/WOs/COs/tickets processed
- Processing time for POs/WOs/COs/tickets
- Number of Continuous Improvements delivered
A day in the life
- Join the cloud leader: AWS has the most proven operational and security expertise, and the business is innovating at a faster clip-especially in new areas such as Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, Serverless Computing, and custom-designed processors and chips.
- Shape the future: Data centers are at the backbone of today's digital world. By supervising procurement processes, you will be directly influencing the growth and scalability of the world's digital infrastructure.
- Be at the nexus of action: Your involvement in data center delivery will be mission-critical to the successful deployment of our data centers. You won't just be observing from the sidelines; you'll be representing Amazon, building relationships across a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Drive operational excellence: Your role doesn't stop with an existing operational process. You will have opportunity to Invent and Simplify, to make our mechanisms more efficient.
- Your unique background will be an asset: At Amazon, our ability to innovate on behalf of our global customers and communities is dependent upon the skills, perspectives, and knowledge of people from all backgrounds.
- Continuous growth and learning: You may not be an expert in AWS when you join our company, but you will have support to become one. Benefit from direct access to industry-leading specialists, latest training materials, and courses to propel your career.
