Key job responsibilities
- Undertake and support management of both routine maintenance and emergency service of a variety of critical systems such as switch-gear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, building monitoring systems, fire systems, etc.
- Installation of new rack capacity and provisioning of power/cooling
- On-site management of contractors and vendors, ensuring that all work performed, is in accordance with established practices, procedures & local legislation.
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports and documentation of all aspects of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance. Manage the facility's assets.
- Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for all facility related events (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) and assist in the resolution of infrastructure engineering and services issues.
- Collaborate with data center IT managers and other business leaders to coordinate day to day operations, projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Drive & implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability as well as assist in the design implementation, commissioning and build out of new data center facilities.
A day in the life
No two days are the same in AWS data centres but, typically, your day will include:
- Attending operational meetings to foster awareness of important activities across the Melbourne data centre region
- Mentoring and development of less experienced engineering operations technicians
- Planning and scheduling of maintenance activities for critical infrastructure
- Collaborating on solving complex engineering problems impacting critical infrastructure
- Collaboration with other AWS data centre regions globally

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in facilities management, maintaining a datacenter or other critical space facility. Ability to prioritize in a complex, fast-paced environment.
- Experience with, awareness of and adherence to physical security protocol.
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) and web browser-based applications and tooling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other relevant discipline) or technical (military/trade school/TAFE) degree and relevant experience plus 4+ years of data center management / engineering / operations experience
- Strong understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data center environment, including but not limited to DRUPS, Transformers, Generators, Switch-gear, UPS systems, ATS/STS units, PDUs, Chillers, AHUs and CRAC units
- Mission-Critical facility management experience for a large enterprise or large Colocation provider
- Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance and upgrading works in large-scale critical environment
- Data center Project Management/ capacity planning and budgetary experience
- Knowledge in IT services such as servers, network, cabling and platform, and appropriate Security and Safety awareness

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. Reporting to the Global Operations Director, as a key member of the Digital Mine team, the Industrial Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end delivery of a medium-volume electronics assembly lines wherein you will be tasked to drive the streamlining of all manufacturing lines and the creation of cost-effective solutions through cross-functional teams collaboration. You will ensure that all outside soruced products are manufactured according to the applicable codes and standard.
**Where is the position located?**
Fountaindale, NSW or Brisbane, QLD (with visits to Fountaindale, NSW).
**What will your typical day look like?**
+ Maintain, report and drive improvement activities related to all operational quality matters. This will include, but not limited to, supplier quality, production process maintenance and improvements , overseeing all inhouse PPAP deliveries and and determine the ideal performance specifications and operations metrics.
+ Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers, Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.
+ Guide suppliers in developing exceptionally robust processes and procedures to promote efficient and seamless production of high-quality products.
+ Supervising production maintenance work and supplying technical advisory support to the Operations team.
+ Designing and developing control systems and production throughput initiatives.
+ Designing and implementing equipment modifications to help improve operational safety and reliability.
+ Investigating and testing concepts to improve existing systems or to overcome machinery problems.
+ Making parts and installing and testing machinery.
+ Carrying out maintenance and identifying and repairing faults in equipment.
+ Ensuring that technicians maintain a level of expertise within their emphasis through training, SOP development, goal development, follow-up, and performance appraisals.
+ Providing operational and technical support to the plant technicians.
+ Performing activities to improve the reliability and efficiency of plant operations.
+ Use structured problem-solving methodologies to identify root cause faults and implement related corrective actions.
+ Work with team members to ensure accurate completion and maintenance of operations related documents.
+ Perform manufacturing process audits at Digital Mine locations; issue corrective actions and following up to ensure their completion; performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
+ Review, approve, and create improvement plans for product submission packages (PPAP, ISIR, FAI etc.)
+ Assures that customer complaints caused by products are addressed expeditiously and appropriate root cause corrective action are provided to the customer and implemented within the process. Contributes to maintaining strong positive working relationships with cross functional departments.
+ Continuously evaluates materials and the processes/systems to produce them to assure best quality products at the best possible price.
+ Assist procurement with supplier selection, development, and risk.
**What do we want to know about you?**
+ Engineering Degree (Electronic, Mechatronic, or related field of study preferred).
+ Proven practical experience of running and owning a high-volume manufacturing line as Manufacturing, Process or Quality Engineer.
+ Experience of personally driving DFM/DFA discussions with supplier and engineering teams to improve the design, manufacturability and feasible CTQs.
+ Working knowledge of SMT process and understanding of PCBAs and understanding of Firmware flashing and end-of-line/Functional testers.
+ Ability to communicate complex technical issues clearly and simply.
+ Strong understanding of statistical process control techniques; process capability assessment (Cpk, Ppk), MSA.
+ Good understanding/knowledge of tolerance stack-up analysis.
+ Experience with reviewing, approving, and creating improvement plans for product submission packages (PPAP, ISIR, FAI etc.).
+ Ability to drive to true root cause and identify appropriate short and long-term countermeasures.
+ Strong people and communication skills, analytical skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement efforts also essential, along with the ability to coach, and lead individuals and teams.
+ Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts and methods.
+ Understanding of quality tools and metrics.
